Strategy, the world’s leading corporate bitcoin (BTC) investor, has made its 80th bitcoin purchase in history, spending approximately $99.7 million to acquire 850 units of the world’s leading crypto asset, bitcoin. The company’s co-founder, Michael Saylor, announced the purchase via an X social media post on Monday.

Notably, the purchase was announced a few hours after BTC experienced a significant decline below the $112,000 mark. Strategy’s stock, MSTR, has also dipped by about 2.5% following the coin’s plummet.

Strategy Buys More BTC

For its latest purchase, Strategy acquired the leading crypto at approximately $117,344 per bitcoin. As a result, its all-time average purchase price is $73,971 per bitcoin. Concluding the shopping, Strategy has now spent $47.33 billion in almost five years to acquire 639,835 BTC.

According to a recent filing, it engaged in a massive sale of its stocks within the last business week. It offloaded 173,834 STRF shares and 227,401 MSTR shares to raise $100 million, spending $99.7 million to fund its latest BTC acquisition. This sharply contrasts with the previous week, when it spent only $60.2 million on BTC shopping.

Data from Strategy’s official bitcoin purchase page shows that the company’s latest purchase marks seven consecutive weeks of purchasing bitcoin, dating back to the week of August 11, when it announced a minimal 155 BTC addition to its holdings.

Capital B and Metaplanet Follow Suit

Following in Strategy’s footsteps, Capital B, a European publicly listed company, entered the cryptocurrency market on Monday to acquire 551 BTC for approximately $64.5 million (€54.7 million), at an average price of $117,038 (€99,272) per bitcoin.

Hence, the firm now holds 2,800 BTC, which it acquired for $307.7 million (€261.0 million)—ranking it 28th on the world’s list of leading institutional bitcoin holders. The firm has also achieved a bitcoin yield of 1,651% year-to-date as of 2025.

Similarly, Japanese leading BTC investors Metaplanet acquired 5,419 bitcoin for $632.5 million. It now holds 25,555 BTC and ranks among the world’s top five companies holding bitcoin.
