Status v2.33 Brings Base Support to Mobile and Desktop

Status v2.33 is now available on both Status Mobile and Desktop, and it brings integration with Base, one of the most active Ethereum Layer-2 networks.

The newest update's headline feature is adding Base support, but Status v2.33 also includes another important integration with Mercuryo as an in-app fiat on-ramp provider. This allows Status users to buy crypto directly from Mercuryo, including subscriptions or recurring purchases.

This release also expands on the Keycard support introduced in the previous Status v2.32 update, adding more Keycard-related functionality to Status Mobile.

In this blog post, we’ll cover the following highlights of Status v2.33:

  • Integration with Base, a leading Layer-2 network with fast throughput and ultra-low transaction fees.
  • Purchase crypto with debit/credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay directly from Mercuryo in the Status app.
  • Secure your Status profile with upgraded Keycard support and new functionality.
  • Better user experience and more features for the Status wallet.
  • Downloading Status and sharing your feedback.

Base Integration on Status Mobile and Desktop

We are excited to announce that in the latest version of Status, users can send, bridge, swap, and use dapps on Base, the low-fee, scalable and widely adopted Layer-2 blockchain network developed by Coinbase.

The Base network is seamlessly integrated with the Status Mobile and Desktop wallets, expanding the functionality of the Status wallet and unlocking new opportunities for users to transact and interact with dapps through Status.

Native token swaps on Base are enabled through ParaSwap, the leading DeFi aggregator, allowing users to swap tokens across supported networks directly within the Status app.

Base joins Arbitrum, Ethereum, and Optimism as networks integrated with Status, and we expect more major networks to be added in future as we grow the Status wallet’s utility. Watch this space!

Integration of Mercuryo

Getting crypto into your Status wallet is as easy as a single payment!

Status v2.33 integrates Mercuryo as a fiat on-ramp provider for both Status Mobile and Desktop, which allows users to purchase crypto directly from Mercuryo, including setting up subscriptions and recurring purchases of crypto with fiat.

This integration marks another exciting step forward in improving the onboarding of new users to Status, offering users more ways to purchase crypto with fiat even as the number of supported networks is expanded.

Thanks to the integration of Mercuryo, Status users can access Mercuryo’s payment options when they purchase crypto directly from them, which includes using their debit or credit card, Apple or Google Pay, or via bank transfer.

Available payment methods and currencies may depend on the user’s country, and it is important to note that Mercuryo is only available in supported regions.

For more details on supported payment options when using Mercuryo’s services, please refer to the Mercuryo Help Centre.

Keycard Improvements for Status Mobile

In our previous update, we introduced support for Keycard to the Status Mobile app. This allowed users to create a new profile secured by their Keycard and use it to log in to Status Mobile, as well as sync their Keycard-secured Status Desktop profile with Status Mobile and sign mobile transactions using their Keycard!

With Status v2.33, we have upgraded Keycard supported with new functionality, including the ability to factory reset your Keycard via Status Mobile and to import your seed phrase into a new Keycard.

We have also added support for signing dapp interactions with Keycard and adding multiple accounts to the same Keycard.

Compliant with the most stringent security standards and compatible with all major cryptocurrencies, Keycard is both easy to use and highly secure, making it the ideal choice for securing your Status profile and wallet.

Enhancing Usability and Onboarding

The Status team continues to prioritise the user experience and ease of onboarding for both Status Desktop and Mobile, and the latest update is no exception.

The latest improvements include revamped and simplified onboarding flows for Status Desktop. We have made several enhancements, from making it faster and more efficient for new users to set up a Status profile to improving fetching profile data after onboarding.

Keycard onboarding user flows have also been improved for Status Desktop to make them more efficient and improve the user experience.

Status Desktop and Mobile also received a number of improvements to the Status wallet interface. These include an easy way to select between Normal, Fast, and Urgent fees for transactions, as well as the ability to see the approximate price for the receiving token when executing a swap.

Users can now also buy crypto through Mercuryo or swap tokens through ParaSwap by selecting “Buy” or “Swap” directly from the Wallet Portfolio view.

In addition to the above, Status v2.33 includes a host of bug fixes and general performance improvements designed to make both Status Mobile and Desktop as easy and efficient to use as possible.
