Pirate Chain monthly update | July 2025

July has been a busy month - the community crowdfunding page is live, PorcFest put ARRR to work in real-world trades, we’re gearing up for the Null:404 party at DEFCON, and Orchard is currently being tested in private testnet.
Monthly update meeting
We held the monthly update meeting on the Pirate Chain Discord on 14 July 2025. You may want to skip to 8:40 as we had a slight technical issue when recording.
Community crowdfunding page (Live!)
Our new Pirate Chain community crowdfunding page launched on 14 July 2025, and it’s built for radical community visibility. Each campaign lists a donation address plus a view key, so you can plug it into your Pirate Chain wallet, sync, and independently verify incoming funds and balances, even though ARRR itself is shielded. Transparency–the Pirate way.
We started the crowdfunding page with two high-priority community requests. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the crowdfunds!
1. General development - BTCPay server self-hosted merchant gateway
Help us fund general development tasks needed for Pirate Chain. First up is to add additional support for Pirate Chain BTCPay, the leading self-custody, open-source payment stack. While some third-party gateways already process ARRR, most are centralized. BTCPay lets merchants hold their own keys, route payments directly, and avoid surveillance rails.
Currently funded at 20,000 ARRR (~$3k USD) as of 31 July 2025.
2. Subversive Spectrum sponsorship (Sal the Agorist)
Instead of paying huge one-off influencer fees to crypto hype shows, we’re pursuing a year-long relationship with Sal the Agorist, a bona fide privacy advocate who’s already covered Pirate Chain organically. This would include X (Twitter) amplification, cross-promotions, and reaches an audience that cares about privacy first, not just price charts.
Currently funded at 7,000 ARRR (~$1k USD) as of 31 July 2025.
Can’t contribute right now? Tell us what you think. Community sentiment matters in deciding where crowdfunds go. Drop feedback in the Pirate Chain Discord, the community calls on Sundays at 1 p.m. Eastern time, or reply in the forum thread.
PorcFest recap
PorcFest last month was quite a unique event where anyone could sell whatever they want, and this year things ran on crypto, ARRR included. We handled dozens of first-time transactions and showed newcomers just how frictionless private payments can be.
- Partners on deck – Destination Freedom, Anarchapulco, and our long-time friends at Edge App shared the booth. (If privacy matters to you, give Edge a spin at Edge.App.)
Note: If you're planning on buying a ticket for Anarchapulco or Liberpulco, use the code "pirate" for a discount. - Taking the stage after Ross – Following Ross Ulbricht’s moving talk, our crew spoke about full-stack privacy with Pirate Chain.
- 15k+ viewers livestream – Sal the Agorist (@SallyMayweather) hosted us on his Subversive Spectrum stream, our biggest single broadcast yet. Daniel J comes on at 2 hours 40 minutes into the show: The Subversive Spectrum Ep.40 - LIVE from PorcFest. (If you're on the Pirate Chain Telegram, our mate X0skeletoN created a clip of Daniel's conversation with Sally Mayweather.) Sal has shown quite a bit of interest in Pirate Chain and might soon be flying the ARRR flag. Follow him on X: @SallyMayweather.
Upcoming events
Null:404 @ DEFCON | Las Vegas, Nevada; USA on 8-12 August
We’re sponsoring the premier party at the world’s largest hacker conference. Although it’s not a crypto event, you can bet we’re going all in on spreading our privacy ethos in having a private by default cryptocurrency. The Null:404 party will be on Saturday, 9 August at an undisclosed location on the Las Vegas strip. Stay tuned for more details.

Our journey so far
Since we first set sail in 2018, our mission has been clear: deliver uncompromising, fully private digital cash that can be verified yet no one can trace. Pirate Chain enforces shielded-only transactions at the protocol layer, hiding addresses, amounts, and histories from public view . Aligned with Komodo and written to Litecoin through delayed Proof-of-Work, the network inherits battle-tested hash-power without burning excess energy. Because ARRR launched with no pre-mine, no founder’s tax, and no central authority, its destiny lies squarely with the community that mines, spends, and builds on it. Here’s a quick reminder of why Pirate Chain still sets the standard for private, fungible crypto:
- Every peer-to-peer transfer is mandatory shielded with zk-SNARKs, so sender, receiver, amount, and history remain invisible, making each ARRR perfectly fungible.
- Delayed Proof-of-Work anchors Pirate Chain to Komodo and Litecoin, so a majority attack would require conquering three networks at once.
- One-minute blocks, ~31 TPS, up to 100 outputs per transaction, and a flat fee of 0.0001 ARRR keep payments swift and cheap.
- No premine, no founder’s tax, no central authority: ARRR is earned through public mining and community contribution.
- Halvings every ~270 days pushed ARRR’s stock-to-flow above Bitcoin and gold after epoch 6, with inflation dropping below 1 % for good.
- Because every spend is shielded, the anonymity pool expands with each block, compounding privacy for everyone on the network.
Calling all vendors!
If you have a side-hustle of any kind, website, service, make sure to list it on Arrrmada.com. If you’re a consumer, have a look to see if anything interests you or what you’d buy on a day-to-day basis. Why funnel purchases through the track-and-trace fiat system when you can keep it private and inflation-proof with Pirate Chain? We want $ARRR’s value to come from its usability, so let’s grow the catalogue together and prove that privacy pays.
In closing
If you missed last month’s drop, Lite Wallet v1.0.12 is already live. Update now to stay synced and secure.
Pirate Chain is full steam ahead with its development of Orchard on the Pirate Chain repo. Orchard is currently being tested in private testnet–Orchard public testnet incoming. Public stress-testing begins soon, and we want everyone; coders, skeptics, even would-be breakers, to hammer on it. The tougher the test, the stronger the chain.
Mark your calendars: Our monthly update meeting takes place the second Monday of every month. The next Pirate Chain monthly update meeting will be on Monday, 11 August. The open community voice calls are on Sundays starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time on the Pirate Chain Discord Community Voice channel. One recent community call ran a record of 12 hours of fiery debate and fresh ideas; drop in, speak up, or just listen. All hands welcome!
