Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has proposed Bitcoin (BTC) and BNB (BNB) as the two starting currencies for Kyrgyzstan’s national crypto reserve.

The Binance co-founder and former CEO confirmed this in a recent X post after joining the Kyrgyz Republic’s National Crypto Committee at President Sadyr Japarov’s invitation.

However, details of the proposal or how it will be implemented remain scarce when filing this report.

Binance Partners Kyrgyzstan for Crypto Payments

The proposal follows a strategic partnership between Binance and Kyrgyzstan’s National Agency for Investments.

Last Sunday, Binance announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the agency during the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Digital Assets, with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov.

The agreement, which aims to boost digital asset development in Kyrgyzstan, includes plans to introduce Binance Pay to enable crypto payments for visitors in the country.

The MoU also emphasizes blockchain education for government agencies, institutions, and the general public. Through Binance Academy, Binance will help develop educational programs to improve crypto knowledge across Kyrgyzstan.

These initiatives aim to raise financial literacy and support local Web3 and blockchain projects.

While the collaboration reflects Kyrgyzstan’s increasing interest in embracing crypto and blockchain innovation, it remains unclear if the country will accept CZ’s proposal to establish a BTC and BNB reserve.

National Crypto Reserve Continues to Gain Traction

The idea of a national cryptocurrency reserve isn’t new, but has gained significant traction recently.

The concept gained prominence in the U.S. following Donald Trump’s executive order in January, titled “Strengthening American Leadership in Digital Financial Technology.”

The order, which directed the Presidential Working Group on Digital Asset Markets to evaluate the creation of a national digital asset stockpile, proposed using seized cryptocurrencies to build this stockpile. This reserve will include crypto assets like BTC, ETH, ADA, and XRP.
