Only over the first two months of 2024, approximately 97,000 users were affected by phishing incidents, with a $104 million losses according to the security firm, Scam Sniffer. $57.7 million was lost in January and $46.8 million during February. Ethereum users being the prime target, reporting $78 million losses.

The majority of the stolen funds were due to victims signing malicious phishing signatures. Phishing comments from impersonated Twitter accounts had got hold of most of the victims. These comments, posing to be legitimate, direct the users to malicious sites leading to asset losses. The total funds lost in crypto phishing attacks during 2023 amounted to $300 million.
