Understanding Bitcoin mattered more than trying to trade it

When I first got into Bitcoin, I focused mostly on price.

Charts, entries, trying to figure out where it might go next.

But over time I realized I didn’t really understand what I was holding.

I knew how to buy it, send it, use exchanges, but things like wallets, private keys, and what “ownership” actually means were still kind of vague.

And with Bitcoin, that actually matters.

Especially once you start thinking about self-custody.

I ended up going back to basics and read Crypto for Dummies: A Beginner’s Guide to Bitcoin, Blockchain, and Not Losing Your Mind (or Your Money).

I expected it to be too simple, but it actually helped connect everything.

It explains things like how wallets work, how transactions happen, and what it really means to control your own Bitcoin, without overcomplicating it.

After that, everything felt more grounded.

Not in a way that made price easier to predict, but in a way where I understood what I was interacting with.

If you’re in BTC and feel like you understand the surface but not the fundamentals, I’d recommend Crypto for Dummies: A Beginner’s Guide to Bitcoin, Blockchain, and Not Losing Your Mind (or Your Money).
