Helium Mobile, the community-powered mobile network built on the Solana blockchain, has surpassed 500,000 registered users. On-chain data shows the number of subscribers rose from about 116,500 in October 2024 to nearly 503,855 by October 2025. This reflects a year-over-year increase of roughly 330 percent.

The rapid growth highlights the appeal of Helium’s unique model. The project began as a decentralized physical infrastructure network, or DePIN, under the Helium Foundation and Nova Labs. It was initially focused on Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity before expanding into mobile services.

Scaling Helium Mobile With Solana

In April 2023, Helium Mobile completed its migration to Solana to take advantage of faster transaction speeds and lower operational costs. This upgrade allowed the network to handle activity more efficiently while supporting a growing user base.

With the improved infrastructure in place, Helium Mobile operates through a hybrid model combining centralized and decentralized systems. Users connect via major carriers’ 5G networks when needed and rely on community-deployed hotspots where coverage is available. Notably, this setup has fueled notable adoption, with the network surpassing the half-million mark in registered users, reflecting rising interest in alternative mobile networks that reward participation and reduce dependence on traditional carriers.

The milestone also underscores the increasing significance of DePIN models, which are still relatively new to the telecom industry. Helium’s progress demonstrates that decentralized connectivity can scale effectively while maintaining consistent service quality.

Solana and AT&T Boost Helium’s Network Reach

Solana’s high throughput and low fees have been central to Helium’s expansion. This efficiency allows seamless communication between devices and fast transaction settlements across the distributed network.

Building on this infrastructure, a key development for Helium in 2025 was its collaboration with AT&T. The partnership integrated Helium’s decentralized hotspots with AT&T’s network, giving users automatic Wi-Fi access at over 62,000 U.S. locations.

The integration enables AT&T customers to move smoothly between Wi-Fi and cellular networks without disruptions. It also illustrates how legacy telecom operators are beginning to explore decentralized systems as practical partners for expanding coverage. As DePIN models mature, projects like Helium Mobile could redefine how connectivity is built and shared in the future.
