A market pundit has discussed XRP potential to reach a five-digit price, highlighting potential catalysts and citing bull and bear scenarios.
Notably, the crypto community continues to discuss the future of XRP, the fourth-largest asset in the market. Some believe it could find a place in global finance, predicting loftier price targets, while others see its potential as overhyped.
Recently, market pundit Gen A provided a breakdown of whether XRP could realistically reach the audacious $10,000 goal. He explored the bullish and bearish arguments, and pointed out the factors that could drive or hinder such a surge.

Why Some Believe XRP Could Reach $10,000
Gen A explained that the belief in a massive price surge for XRP is due to its functionality. Unlike many speculative assets, XRP aims to solve real-world financial challenges, particularly in cross-border payments. He noted that Ripple has spent over a decade forging partnerships with financial institutions and even governments.
For context, one of XRP's primary advantages is its ability to enable fast and cost-effective international transactions. Traditional financial systems rely on slow, expensive processes, while XRP is an efficient alternative. Gen A argued that if financial institutions fully integrate XRP, demand could soar, increasing its value.
Another factor that fuels this optimism is the expected shift to a new financial system that prioritizes instant global liquidity. Gen A pointed out that if a payment network as large as SWIFT, which moves about $5 trillion daily, adopted XRP, its market demand could increase.
Additionally, he mentioned the growing interest in tokenizing real-world assets on the XRP Ledger, which could further drive up XRP's value. Notably, Ripple CTO David Schwartz previously suggested the XRPL could become the preferable option for tokenizing RWAs.
Is XRP Price Being Suppressed?
Gen A highlighted a belief among XRP proponents that the asset's price is under artificial suppression. He explained that the legal case between Ripple and the U.S. SEC created uncertainty. Many institutional investors remain hesitant, waiting for a final resolution.
If the lawsuit finally results in a settlement, Gen A believes XRP could see a rise in institutional adoption. He suggested that once major financial institutions start integrating XRP into their systems, liquidity could increase, pushing the price higher.
What Would It Take for XRP to Hit $10,000?
While Gen A acknowledged the bullish arguments, he also examined the enormous challenges that come with a $10,000 price target.
He explained that for XRP to reach that level, its fully diluted market cap would need to hit an astonishing $1 quadrillion. This would require XRP to absorb massive financial flows, including global remittances and forex markets.

For comparison, data confirms that the total global stock market was worth around $111 trillion by the end of 2023. Also, Bitcoin's market cap is roughly $2 trillion, with the entire crypto market currently hovering around $3 trillion.
Given these figures, Gen A was skeptical that XRP could reach such an extreme valuation without a major change in the current financial system.
How Could XRP Supply and Demand Impact This Goal
Gen A also discussed the impact of supply and demand on XRP's potential price. Unlike Bitcoin, which has a fixed supply of 21 million coins, XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens. However, about 37 billion tokens are in escrow, limiting immediate circulation.
According to Gen A, institutional adoption could also massively reduce available supply. He also mentioned the possibility of supply shocks if large financial institutions begin holding XRP as a reserve asset. Recall that reports suggest the U.S. government is considering XRP in the proposed digital asset stockpile.
Additionally, as XRP transactions include a burn mechanism, where small amounts of XRP are destroyed with each transaction, a spike in transactions could help reduce supply and bolster scarcity.
Despite these factors, Gen A stressed that reaching $10,000 per token would still require an unprecedented level of global adoption. He stated that while XRP's fixed supply could contribute to price appreciation, this alone would not be enough to drive such extreme price levels.
The Bear and Bull Cases
Further, Gen A called attention to both the bullish and bearish arguments regarding XRP's future.

He stated that if XRP becomes the global standard for liquidity and gains widespread institutional adoption, its price could see massive growth. Additionally, regulatory clarity and the tokenization of global assets could become major catalysts.
However, he also stressed the challenges XRP faces. A $1 quadrillion market capitalization is an almost impossible hurdle under the current financial landscape.
Competition from other assets could also limit XRP's dominance. Additionally, regulatory challenges may continue to slow down its adoption. Currently, XRP trades for $2.38, requiring a 420,068% rise to hit $10,000.
