Semler Scientific Acquires 455 BTC, Worth $50 Million

Digital health technology company Semler Scientific has increased its bitcoin (BTC) holdings. The latest acquisition has further cemented its place in the industry as one of the big players holding BTC.

According to a recent K-8 filing, the healthcare company purchased 445 BTC, valued at approximately $50 million, between May 13, 2025, and May 23, 2025. The firm revealed that the crypto asset was acquired for an average price of $109,801 per bitcoin. The company used proceeds from its ATM offering program to purchase the asset.

Semler Scientific Holds BTC Worth $390M  

Currently, Semler Scientific holds approximately 4,264 BTC ($390 million). These assets were purchased at an average price of $91,471 per coin, including fees and expenses, which now have a market value of over $474 million.

Despite the latest BTC purchase, the company’s stock is down 2.47% at $43.82. However, the crypto market, particularly BTC, has recently experienced favorable movement. The digital asset surpassed its all-time high (ATH) of $109,000 and recently hit another price level of $112,000 before declining. 

In addition to the filing, the healthcare company achieved a YTD of 25.8%. Moreover, Semler Scientific utilizes BTC Yield as a key performance indicator (KPI) to evaluate the effectiveness of its BTC acquisition strategy. The company believes it enhances long-term value for its stockholders. 

Semler Scientific began buying BTC in 2024. The firm has shown a remarkable commitment to the crypto asset. It has followed the steps of big players in the sector, like Strategy, the largest corporate BTC holder, Metaplanet, Tesla, and other prominent entities. The company sees BTC as a hedge.

Bitcoin Buying Spree 

Recently, Strategy added 576,230 BTC, worth $764.9 million, to its bitcoin stash. The firm revealed that the funds used to buy the bitcoins were proceeds from selling its MSTR and STRK shares. As a leading BTC holder, the business intelligence company announced plans to raise $2.1 billion to acquire more BTC. 

Similarly, Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has demonstrated its commitment to digital assets. On May 19, 2025, the company disclosed it purchased 1,004 BTC, valued at over $104 million. The firm noted that these coins were bought at an average price of $103,873 per bitcoin. The company also achieved a YTD 2025 Bitcoin Yield of 189.1%.
