Ripple just announced a groundbreaking partnership with Wormhole, the cross-chain messaging protocol, to enable seamless interoperability between the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and over 30 leading blockchain networks. This collaboration comes at a pivotal time as Ripple expands the functionality of its ecosystem with the upcoming XRPL EVM sidechain.
Wormhole’s integration will allow assets and data to move securely and efficiently across blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and more — directly from the XRP Ledger. This means that XRPL developers and users will gain unprecedented access to multichain liquidity, decentralized applications (dApps), and broader Web3 use cases.
The XRP Ledger is already known for its fast, low-cost transactions, but the lack of interoperability has limited its exposure to the wider DeFi and multichain ecosystem. With Wormhole, XRPL takes a significant leap toward becoming a fully connected Web3 platform.
The integration will also power the upcoming XRPL EVM sidechain, currently in development, which brings Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility to the XRPL ecosystem. This means developers can build or migrate Ethereum-based smart contracts to the XRPL network while still leveraging XRP’s core strengths.
Once launched, users will be able to:
This move could also increase the overall demand for $XRP, especially if developers begin launching cross-chain DeFi, NFT, and GameFi applications on XRPL with Wormhole support.
This Ripple x Wormhole partnership marks a major milestone for XRP Ledger's evolution. By integrating with Wormhole, Ripple is positioning XRPL as a truly interoperable, developer-friendly, and DeFi-ready platform — giving it a competitive edge in the multichain future.
