Syncing Geth while the merge is happening, is this a problem?

Hey. So I had to delete and reinstall Geth last night, unfortunately it doesn't look like it'll be synced in time for the merge later on tonight/early morning. Is there any risks to keep Geth syncing while the merge is going on? Or should I pause it and continue syncing after the merge? I should note that I'm currently running a validator. Also what about beacon chain, will anything with my beacon chain get messed up during the merge since my geth isn't fully synced? Thanks!
