Warning: Stasis EURS stablecoin contract unsafe?

I am looking for an alternative to USD stablecoin variants and was attracted by Stasis EURS (https://stasis.net/). While they mention they charge no fees, I decided to inspect the smart contract[1]. If you look closely, you'll see that there is built-in code to charge fees for any transfer of this token (in the transferFrom() function). While transfer fees are set to zero right now, it is hard to take for granted that they will always stay so. In theory, they could increase the fees to whichever value they want, rendering the tokens worthless (in addition to, of course, the usual blacklisting functionality of centralized stablecoins). Is this common practice?
Please do correct me if I'm wrong as I am relatively new to this space. I am curious to know if there are any more promising Euro stablecoin projects!
