More Than Half Of BlackRock’s Recent Bitcoin Buying Came In One Week

BlackRock’s IBIT just had its biggest week since Bitcoin’s all-time high last October.

The fund bought every single day, and the Arkham on-chain data showing those Coinbase Prime transfers makes the accumulation impossible to miss.

The Week That Changed The Numbers

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust pulled in $1.33 billion between August 17 and August 21, 2026, its largest five-day haul since Bitcoin peaked near $126,000 in October 2025, Farside Investors data confirmed

The daily breakdown ran $160.2 million on Monday, $143.6 million on Tuesday, $284.7 million on Wednesday, $503 million on Thursday, and $239.3 million on Friday. Thursday’s $503 million alone ranked as IBIT’s single best day since May.

What The Arkham Data Shows Behind The Trades

The on-chain trail is visible through Arkham Intelligence. Transfers from Coinbase Prime hot wallets to BlackRock’s IBIT Bitcoin ETF address have been running in consistent 300 BTC batches, each worth roughly $23 to $24 million at current prices.

They arrived in rapid succession over a matter of hours. The full transfer log shows 625 pages of transactions.

That rhythm points to systematic settlement of institutional orders rather than opportunistic spot buying.

How This Fits The Bigger Picture

BlackRock has net bought $2.17 billion in Bitcoin since the July 1 bottom, with more than half of that arriving in last week alone.

Techgaged reported in June that Bitcoin ETFs had just posted their darkest week yet, with spot funds recording their worst outflow performance since launch.

Separately, Techgaged noted in March that IBIT led a surge that ended five consecutive weeks of ETF outflows, a pattern that preceded a short-term price recovery.

Despite last week’s record, Bitcoin ETFs remain roughly $4.5 billion in the red for 2026 on a year-to-date basis.

The On-Chain Clock Is Ticking

BlackRock’s tracked portfolio on Arkham shows 762,947 BTC worth roughly $60 billion as of August 25, 2026, making it the single largest known Bitcoin holder by a wide margin. Bitcoin trades at $79,880 as of August 25, 2026 (10:00 UTC).

Watch whether IBIT’s weekly inflows stay above $1 billion for a second consecutive week.

That would be the clearest signal yet that institutional demand has durably re-entered rather than concentrated into a single macro-driven event.
