What does it mean when the wallets holding the most Bitcoin start growing again, just as everyone else is watching the price? Santiment data shows the number of wallets holding at least 10,000 BTC has climbed back to a six-month high, with 90 such wallets now recorded.

It has been up notably over the past eight weeks. Bitcoin trades at $64,222.00, according to CoinGecko, up 0.8% over the past seven days.

A Cohort That Rarely Grows by Accident

Wallets holding 10,000 BTC or more represent positions worth roughly $640 million at current prices — a threshold few entities beyond exchanges, institutions, and the earliest network participants can reach.

An increase in this specific cohort typically signals either fresh consolidation among existing large holders or new entities crossing into elite-holder status, both of which point toward concentrated conviction rather than incidental accumulation.

Where Price Has Been Moving Through This Window

The seven-day chart shows Bitcoin climbing from a low near $63,700 on August 5 to a peak above $65,000 by August 10, before a sharp pullback into August 11 pulled price back to $64,222.00.

That volatility sits squarely within the eight-week window Santiment’s data covers, suggesting this wallet growth has persisted through both the rally and the reversal rather than tracking one direction of price alone.

A Metric Worth Reading With Care

Elite wallet counts can rise for reasons unrelated to bullish conviction, including custodial reshuffling or exchange-related transfers that inflate the headline number without reflecting new buying.

Still, a six-month high in this specific metric, sustained across a volatile stretch of price action, is the kind of data point on-chain analysts tend to weigh seriously when assessing where conviction sits among the market’s largest participants.

Whether this resurgence in elite wallets marks the early stage of a broader accumulation trend, or simply reflects short-term repositioning among Bitcoin’s largest holders, is a question the coming weeks of on-chain data will need to answer.
