US Government Seeks $2.11M USDT Seizure From Wallet

The U.S. government has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit seeking to seize roughly 2.118 million USDT held in an Ethereum wallet, according to fintech lawyer Ariel Givner.

Investigators allege the funds trace to a Southeast Asian pig-butchering scam, in which at least 13 victims were lured through WhatsApp onto fake trading platforms and pressured into sending USDT and cash.

The Secret Service, FBI, and the Memphis Virtual Currency Task Force followed the money through 76 intermediary addresses before landing on the named wallet.

Because this is a civil in rem action, the government is suing the digital asset itself, citing probable cause that the coins represent criminal proceeds. If a judge agrees, the USDT would be condemned to U.S. ownership.

Ethereum Institutional Secures Funding With Support From 100+ Ecosystem Players

Institutions announced the close of its first ecosystem funding round, anchored by BitMine, SharpLink, and Ethereum co-founders Joe Lubin and Mihai Alisie.

More than 100 ecosystem participants backed the round, including Aave, Arbitrum, Circle, Galaxy, Robinhood, Uniswap Labs, and zkSync. The organization positions itself as an independent, neutral entity built to accelerate institutional adoption, giving banks and asset managers a dedicated counterpart for evaluating the network.

This broad-based backing shows institutional interest in Ethereum news now spans exchanges, custodians, DeFi protocols, and infrastructure providers working from a shared playbook.

Ethereum Institutional Targets Tokenization, Stablecoins and On-Chain Settlement

Beyond the funding, Institutional laid out its working agenda: deepening engagement with banks, asset managers, custodians, fintech companies, and sovereign institutions evaluating Layer 2 networks.

Priority workstreams include tokenization, stablecoins, collateral management, market infrastructure, and on-chain settlement, alongside institutional education and market intelligence meant to bring traditional finance closer to Ethereum's base layer

This roadmap is about building the operational rails institutions need to actually use Ethereum in production.

Ethereum Foundation Adds pcaversaccio to Board for One-Year Term

The EF confirmed that pcaversaccio has joined its board of directors for an initial one-year term, serving voluntarily. He's the co-founder and lead of SEAL 911 and has been part of the Foundation's Silviculture Society, an informal advisory group.

The board now consists of Aya Miyaguchi, Vitalik Buterin, Patrick Storchenegger, and pcaversaccio. Known for his writings on Ethereum privacy, his addition brings a security-and-privacy-focused voice into the Foundation's leadership at a time when it's refining its governance mandate.

Ethereum Foundation Board to Focus on Security, Strategy and Ecosystem Values

As Foundation's mandate, the board sets the long-term vision and checks that management's strategies stay aligned with Ethereum core values, including censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and security. It also acts as a kind of security council, protecting the Foundation's mission while ensuring compliance as a Swiss foundation.

Adding a security-focused figure like pcaversaccio suggests the Foundation wants stronger, values-based scrutiny built directly into its governance.

Ethereum Turns 11: From 2015 Mainnet Launch to DeFi and Institutional Adoption

July 30, 2026 marks 11 years since Ethereum's mainnet went live in 2015. What started as a smart contract platform has grown into the backbone of DeFi, stablecoins, and now institutional finance.

Exchanges like Tapbit marked the occasion with celebratory posts inviting the community to share their first ETH memories, reflecting on how far the network has come — from a niche experiment to infrastructure banks are actively building on.
