Strategy Adds $472M in Bitcoin, Boosting Holdings to 601,550 BTC

Business intelligence firm Strategy has expanded its bitcoin reserves once again, adding 4,225 BTC between July 7 and 13. The company spent roughly $472.5 million on the purchase.

Notably, the acquisition followed a brief pause in its usual buying pattern the previous week. The average price paid for the latest batch was about $111,827 per coin.

Strategy Now Holds 601,550 BTC

With its recent addition, Strategy now holds a total of 601,550 BTC. These assets cost the firm a combined $42.87 billion, with an average acquisition price of $71,268 per bitcoin.

At the current market price of around $122,000, the company’s bitcoin stash is now worth more than $73 billion. This translates to an unrealized profit of nearly $30 billion, reflecting a 69.7% increase over its total cost.

To fund the latest acquisition, the firm raised capital through several classes of preferred stock. The breakdown includes $330.9 million from MSTR shares, $71.1 million from STRK shares, $55.3 million from STRF shares, and $15 million from STRD shares.

As a result of its bitcoin strategy, the business intelligence firm has recorded a 19.2% return on its holdings so far in 2025, underscoring its continued bet on BTC as a core treasury asset.

More Firms Add to Bitcoin Treasuries

In a separate announcement, Japan-based Metaplanet revealed it had acquired 797 BTC. The firm spent about $95 million, with an average cost of $118,000 per bitcoin.

Metaplanet now holds 16,352 BTC, valued at close to $2 billion based on current prices. The average cost of its bitcoin purchase is around $99,500 per coin. According to the company, the purchase supports its ongoing Bitcoin Treasury Operations. It joins a growing list of firms treating bitcoin as a reserve asset.

Similarly, The Blockchain Group confirmed the acquisition of 29 BTC for roughly $3.3 million (€2.8 million). The firm now holds 1,933 BTC and reports a year-to-date BTC yield of 1,368.3%.
