What Are Rapid Swaps?

Remember THORChain Streaming Swaps (aka Price Optimized Swaps)? They broke large trades into smaller “sub-swaps” executed over time, allowing arbitrageurs to rebalance the liquidity pools between each block. This gave traders better pricing than dumping everything in one block, but it came at a price of longer time frame for execution:

Rapid Swaps supercharges this process by executing multiple sub-swaps per block instead of waiting for block intervals between each one:

Rapid Swaps does not affect the network speed of underlying blockchains i.e. 1 Bitcoin network block confirmation time is still roughly ~10+ mins.
THORChain Rapid Swaps currently supports up to 2 sub-swaps per block. This is configurable, and can be scale higher in the future.
Rapid swaps does not affect THORChain outbound delays, the time a swap is streaming is still counted against the outbound delay. See here for more information.
