In this exclusive BrandTalk interview with Roc Zacharias, CEO and founder of layer-2 DEX QuickSwap, he discusses crucial takeaways from his journey of becoming a successful web3 founder.

Leaving Doctor degree for a Bitcoin whitepaper, Roc shares how he ended up founding Quickswap after Sandeep, Polygon founder, approached him with the idea.

He also shares the reason why he turned the million dollar investment deal from Lightspeed, Coinbase Ventures and Mark Cuban. Surprisingly, he ended up making Quickswap successful without any significant VC funding.

Quickswap founder Roc shares how he always have prioritised decentralisation as the core aspect in his DEX ecosystem. According to him, no VCs to dump on and giving complete decentralized access to its users, is what lead Quickswap to become the leading DEX in web3.

He also sees the developing pro-crypto regulatory environment in the United States as a bullish signal for web3 industry. However, he sarcastically calls this visibility as a result of “being the largest funders of Web3 elections 2024”.

He emphasizes social capital over accumulating economic capital. Quickswap’s Roc seems it necessary for web 3 founders to built their reputation as a reliable personality lest the leadership ambitions can shatter. However, he calls on founders for community-focused thinking while keeping it “necessary for making money too.”

Roc further highlights that for founders, the most obvious challenge remains the uncertainty – ups and downs – of the Crypto market. One must prepare for longetivity to ensure survival.
