Key Insights:

  • Bitcoin news: H100 bought 2,455.37 BTC for $154.44 million, taking its total holdings to 3,506.4 BTC.
  • BTC crypto active addresses fell to levels last seen around 2018 and 2019 before recovering.
  • CME hedge funds flipped net long on BTC futures, a rare shift that points to rising bullish bets.

Bitcoin news is drawing attention to H100 after the company purchased 2,455.37 BTC for $154.44 million. The move brings this company’s holdings to 3,506.4 BTC, while weak network activity and a rare shift among CME hedge funds give the market mixed signals.

The H100 Bitcoin News Boost

H100 Group bought 2,455.37 BTC at an average price of $62,900. Lookonchain reported that the purchase is worth about $154.44 million and takes the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 3,506.4 BTC, valued at about $228.4 million.

The latest purchase was made below H100’s overall average purchase price of $78,399. This means the company added the coins at a lower price than the average cost of its existing Bitcoin holdings.

The purchase is one of the main points in recent Bitcoin news as the market continues to watch large BTC purchases. However, the transaction alone does not show where Bitcoin prices will move next. There is also no information in the shared data on whether H100 plans to make another purchase.

At the same time, other market data is showing weaker activity across the Bitcoin network. This has made the latest BTC crypto market picture less straightforward.

Bitcoin Active Addresses Fall to 2019 Levels

Bitcoin active addresses have fallen to levels last seen around 2018 and 2019, according to data shared by thechessONCHAIN. Active addresses measure unique Bitcoin addresses that sent or received BTC on a given day. They do not represent individual users.

The 30-day exponential moving average fell to 609,688 on July 19, 2026, compared with 570,710 in July 2018. The 100-day average reached 621,957 on July 27, compared with 605,433 in January 2019.

The comparison is important because Bitcoin reached a price bottom of $3,206 on December 14, 2018. At that time, the 30-day and 100-day activity averages were 625,967 and 632,754.

Still, the data does not confirm that Bitcoin is heading toward another price bottom. The timing of the lows was also different. The 30-day activity average reached its low 166 days before the 2018 price bottom, while the 100-day average reached its low 44 days after the price bottom.

As per recent Bitcoin News, the lowest BTC price so far this period was $58,535 on June 30, 2026. The 30-day and 100-day activity averages reached their lows 19 and 27 days later. Both averages have since moved higher, closing on August 8 at 664,764 and 640,603, respectively.

Three levels now matter for the BTC crypto market. The 30-day activity average needs to remain above 609,688, while the 100-day average needs to stay above 621,957. Bitcoin also needs to remain above $58,535 for the current bottoming view to remain valid.

CME Hedge Funds Turn Net Long

Another point in recent Bitcoin news is the change in positioning among hedge funds on CME Bitcoin futures. Ki Young Ju said hedge funds have flipped net long BTC futures, calling the move rare.

Hedge funds have generally remained structurally short because of the basis trade. This strategy involves taking positions based on differences between spot and futures prices. As a result, moving into a net long position is an unusual change in their positioning.

The shift suggests that some large traders are now positioning for higher Bitcoin prices. However, it does not guarantee that the price will rise.

The CME move adds a positive signal to a market where network activity remains weak. Together with H100’s large purchase and the recovery in active addresses, it gives Bitcoin news a mix of positive and negative indicators.

For now, the data points to a possible bottoming structure rather than a confirmed bottom. The recovery in activity must continue, Bitcoin must hold above $58,535, and the latest futures positioning will need to remain supportive before the BTC crypto market can offer a stronger signal.
