Summer is in full swing and June has delivered a treasure trove of milestones: our crew stormed PorcFest with packed workshops, Lite Wallet v1.0.12 and the freshly rebuilt Ubuntu daemon are out in the wild, and Meile the first VPN you can pay for with ARRR is charting a brand-new course for real-world privacy.
Announcements
By popular demand, we’ve rebuilt and tested the Pirate Chain daemon on the latest Ubuntu release, so if that’s your thing go ahead and try it out! We’ve also updated the Lite Wallet to v1.0.12, which is now live. This release improves on some bugs, scripts, and dependencies, and so far we haven’t heard of any issues.
Monthly Update Meeting
On June 9, we held our monthly meeting on Discord where the team celebrated a bug-fixing Lite Wallet 1.0.12 release alongside a freshly rebuilt Ubuntu daemon, then unveiled “Meile,” a $3-per-month, fully open-source decentralized VPN that accepts Pirate Chain (ARRR).
Looking ahead, we gave Pirates a heads-up on Pirate Chain co-hosting the Exit Lounge tent at PorcFest, offering wallet-setup workshops with Edge Wallet, ARRR giveaways, a singles mixer with prizes and refreshments, and the possibility of a Ross Ulbricht appearance.
Recent outreach included Dajohns getting Pirate a spotlight on the Porcupine Report with Eric Brakey, Synthetix and the philosophical DeFi X/Twitter space. We also wrapped up by reminding everyone about the community calls on Sunday at 1 PM Eastern.
PorcFest Recap - June 16-22 in New Hampshire
The Pirate Chain crew had a blast at the 22nd annual Porcupine Freedom Festival, June 16-22 in New Hampshire. We gave a combined workshop with Edge App and Pirate Chain on: Empowered Privacy with Crytocurrency. Daniel J and Amy V were also on the PorcFest main stage talking about Pirate Chain: Privacy by Default.
Other highlight talks on the main stage at PorcFest included Naomi Brockwell, Bob Murphy, Scott Horton, Steve Patterson, and Ross Ulbricht. There were also many talks in the Exit Lounge tent with Anarchapulco, Edge App, and Christopher Gronski’s Destination Freedom as well as the Pirate Chain Privacy Hour. A Pirate Masquerade was also held on Friday night at the Exit Lounge.
The Pirate Chain team helped onboard many new users to the Edge App wallet and give them their first ARRR. There were also peer-to-peer transactions conducted between individuals and vendors with ARRR, and some new signups of vendors joining arrrmada.com. A big thank you to PorcFest for an amazing week full of energy and freedom!
Note: Pre-sale tickets for Liberpulco 2025 and Anarchapulco 2026 are available on the Anarchapulco website. Discounts are available using the code: Pirate.
Finally, A VPN you can pay for with ARRR
Using a privacy coin to pay for a VPN is a perfect use case, unlike credit cards, which leave a trace of your identity, paying with Pirate Chain keeps you anonymous for online payments especially if they are for digital and software purchases.
It’s called Meile, a decentralized VPN powered by the Sentinel blockchain (dVPN) with a P2P marketplace and over 3000 community nodes. It’s only $3 per month, and by one of our own community members, so why not head over to the Meile website to try it out.

In Closing
Before we close out this month’s update, one last call to all Pirates: if you haven’t yet spun up your own node, now’s the perfect time. Fire it up on a Raspberry Pi or dust off that extra laptop (any modest device will do!) and start saving every block directly to your own hardware.
It’s low-power, simple to maintain, and by doing so you’re reinforcing the Pirate Chain network making it stronger, more resilient, and truly decentralized. That’s your personal contribution to Pirate Chain’s success and you’ll thank yourself down the road when it takes off!
Just a reminder for those of you with Lite Wallets, we do have port forwarding options on our Treasure Chest wallet, so that means you can connect to your own node at home, putting you in complete control.
With PorcFest’s enthusiasm still echoing across the decks and a privacy-powered VPN now flying our flag, the rest of 2025 promises even bigger horizons. Keep the momentum alive: fire up your own node, hop onto our Sunday Discord voice calls, and grab early-bird tickets to Liberpulco 2025 and Anarchapulco 2026—don’t forget the “Pirate” discount. Let's keep the network strong and the spirit of freedom blazing all the way to year’s end.
