Alfreton Town FC has named Solana’s Phantom as its main kit sponsor for the 2025/26 season. The Derbyshire-based football club confirmed the deal earlier this week in an announcement. It described the move as the start of a new chapter for its kit design, powered by Solana’s blockchain technology.

Phantom’s Web3 Expansion via Football
Phantom is a cryptocurrency wallet built on the Solana blockchain and later expanded to support Ethereum, Polygon, and other networks. It enables users to store, transfer, and exchange digital assets, including NFTs, and access decentralized finance applications.
Available as both a browser extension and mobile app, the wallet has maintained a growing presence in the Web3 sector since its launch in 2021. As part of this expansion, its recent partnership with Alfreton Town FC signals a strategy to extend its role beyond traditional wallet services.
Phantom’s Moves and Solana’s Momentum
The sponsorship news follows Phantom’s acquisition of Solsniper, a Solana-based AI-powered memecoin platform. Solsniper offers tools for monitoring tokens, tracking wallets, and executing trades quickly and precisely.
Phantom stated that Solsniper will continue operating independently, with planned upgrades to improve its services. Notably, the acquisition reflects Phantom’s interest in enhancing its platform through targeted technology partnerships.
Earlier this year, Phantom secured $150 million in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia and Paradigm, placing the company’s valuation at $3 billion. Management indicated plans for further strategic acquisitions to strengthen its position in the crypto market.
As Phantom deepens its presence in the Solana ecosystem, the network’s native token, SOL, has gained 11% in the past week amid a more positive mood in the wider cryptocurrency market.
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez noted that SOL could rise by over 600% from its current value to reach $1,315 after breaking out of a cup and handle pattern. In technical analysis, this chart formation shows a rounded price dip followed by a smaller downward drift, often suggesting a potential price rally if the pattern completes.
