The Cardano Foundation has revealed the establishment of PRAGMA, an independent open-source association focused on progression in blockchain software projects, in collaboration with Blink Labs, dcSpark, Sundae Labs, and TxPipe. PRAGMA will adopt its statutes before April 22. This association will be an important component in the Cardano ecosystem’s future expansion.

PRAGMA Drives Open-Source Development in Cardano Ecosystem

United by a joint concentration on IT development and engineering in the Cardano space, the five institutions behind PRAGMA conceptualize an alternative open-source agenda based on unity, innovation, and community. With the establishment of the association, stakeholders articulate their aspirations to foster an open structural space where developers are free to cooperate in developing and perfecting tools for the future of blockchain.

As an association, PRAGMA will prioritize open source in its activities, considering the technology as a cornerstone for vital and sustainable alternatives within the Cardano space. Therefore, with an open-source basis, the association provides fuel for developers to create core solutions for individual company use and support the broader community as well.

A famous project under Pragma’s umbrella is Amaru, a Cardano blockchain full node coding in Rust. For the first time, Amaru allows the operation alongside Haskell nodes, thus promoting the close communication of developers with the community due to the enhanced assembly of DApps. Aiken, another project critical to the Pragma, is a smart contract platform developed for the Cardano blockchain.

PRAGMA Welcomes Developers to Expand Cardano’s Innovation Horizon

It simplifies the existence and building of various smart contracts while ensuring they retain their integrity and efficiency. Engaging with developers through projects like Amaru and Aiken, the Cardano Association becomes a catalyst of the innovative waves in the context.

As it evolves, more and more developers from the wider Cardano community are expected to join the Association by 2025. Sebastian Bode, Director of Engineering at the Cardano Foundation and PRAGMA Board Member, summed up that PRAGMA is a vital tool for the Cardano evolution to the public infrastructure status.

Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, shares the same vision of fostering the open-source projects landscape in the Cardano ecosystem. He adds that their next step in such an approach is a PRAGMA Association. It allows to increase the diversity, quality, and quantity of blockchain solutions offered to worldwide users.
