XLM Breakout Puts XRP’s Next Resistance Test in Focus

A market connoisseur tracking XRP and XLM said Stellar’s token had broken above a descending resistance line while XRP was nearing a similar technical threshold, as traders positioned ahead of a proposed Clarity Act cloture vote mentioned for the following day.

The move mattered because both assets had recently lagged under persistent regulatory uncertainty, particularly XRP.

According to Tyler Hill, XLM rose about 6.65% over 24 hours to roughly $0.19, while XRP gained about 4.12% and traded near $1.40. That put both ahead of several major cryptocurrencies cited by the analyst, including Ethereum and Solana, which were each up by less than 2% at the time.

Hill’s XLM chart showed the asset breaking out of a descending structure that had been in place since August 22. XLM had spent roughly 23 days moving sideways between support near $0.171-$0.175 and a falling resistance line before the latest rally pushed it higher.

The analyst interpreted the breakout as evidence that buyers were defending the support zone rather than allowing a deeper sell-off. “The buyers are present,” the commentator said, arguing that the ability to push through descending resistance was not behavior typically associated with a sustained bear-market decline.

XRP was showing a similar defense of prior support but had not yet cleared its own descending resistance. XRP would need to rise roughly another 2% to move above that line, according to the chart analysis. Tyler Hill suggested XRP’s larger market size could mean a slower move than XLM’s, rather than necessarily signaling weaker demand.

The YouTube video linked the rally to the upcoming Clarity Act cloture vote, arguing that projects associated with cross-border payments may be especially sensitive to clearer U.S. crypto rules. XRP was described as having faced more regulatory scrutiny than most major digital assets, while XLM was grouped into the same payment-focused niche.

Still, Tyler Hill cautioned against assuming prices would rise uninterrupted if the vote advances. A “buy the rumor, sell the news” reaction remains possible, particularly if XRP and XLM extend their gains before the vote. XLM could retrace to test former resistance or nearby support after a sharp advance, the market connoisseur said.

The outlook also included a second macro risk: the FOMC meeting scheduled for Wednesday, which could affect broader risk appetite across crypto markets.
