Polymarket to Airdrop Native POLY Token, CMO Confirms

Matthew Modabber, the chief marketing officer (CMO) of the prediction market Polymarket, has revealed new insight into the much-anticipated POLY token.

In a recent interview with the hosts of the Degenz Live podcast, Modabber hinted at an airdrop of the POLY token, reiterating that the token’s launch is definite. Recall that Polymarket’s CEO, Shayne Coplan, teased about an incoming cryptocurrency for the leading prediction market earlier this month.

Wen Polymarket’s POLY Airdrop?

Regarding the token launch date, the Polymarket CMO stressed that it is not coming soon. He explained that the company will complete its expansion into the United States before delving into the POLY development.

“There will be a token, there will be an airdrop. [. . .] We could have launched a token whenever we wanted, and it’s just how thorough we want to be about it. We want it to be a token with true utility, longevity, and to be around forever. [. . .] That’s what we expect from ourselves, and that’s what I think everyone in the space expects from us,” he said during the interview.

In July, Polymarket acquired QCX, a derivatives exchange registered under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), for $112 million. The acquisition was geared toward aiding its return to the U.S. after the CFTC forced it to leave in 2022. Last month, the financial agency gave the green light for Polymarket to return to the country.

Shedding light on its U.S. expansion, Modabber stated that the prediction platform is currently building an app for the American audience. Polymarket’s data shows that 80% of bettors expect the U.S. debut to be completed this year.

Already, speculation on Crypto Twitter suggests the POLY token’s airdrop distribution will likely prioritize users based on their trading volume. As a result, users are urged to bolster their engagement with the platform before a snapshot. Many in the Polymarket ecosystem are bullish about the upcoming token, expecting it to boost their existing gains.
