Tether to Launch AI Product — Here’s What We Know

Tether, the stablecoin issuing company, is continually expanding the services it intends to offer via its artificial intelligence (AI) division. The company’s CEO, Paolo Ardoino, has announced features to be expected in the Tether AI product, which will be launched soon.

According to Ardoino’s tweet, Tether AI will be open source, transparent, scalable, and able to adapt to any hardware. Among other things, the product will also offer a peer-to-peer (P2P) network for billions of AI agents.

Key Features For Tether AI

Tether AI will enable P2P Bitcoin and USDT payments via an infused wallet development kit (WDK). The stablecoin issuer unveiled its WDK in November 2024 to enable developers to build mobile, desktop, and web wallet applications, allowing for the non-custodial and self-custodial holding of USDT and bitcoin (BTC).

In addition to the P2P crypto payments, the AI product will have no application programming interface (API) keys or central point of failure and will be fully modular and composable.

Ardoino believes AI will become interwoven in the fabric of the universe in the coming decades, so Tether AI has one goal; “to be  the ideal technological foundation to achieve the vision of AI described in Asimov’s science fiction books.” Tether is designing the product to offer personal infinite intelligence.

More Incoming AI Products

The latest features disclosed for Tether AI are part of the company’s broader framework for launching a series of products in the AI space. Tether diversified into AI in April 2024 via its division Tether Data and has since revealed plans to launch a software development kit (SDK) and several applications, including an AI translator, voice assistant, and Bitcoin wallet assistant.

Cointab reported that the Tether SDK platform will be open source and built on Bare, a modular JavaScript runtime for desktop and mobile on the P2P application creator Holepunch. The company is designing the toolkit to work on any hardware or device, just like the WDK.

It is worth mentioning that besides launching AI products, Tether has been investing in AI-focused companies. The firm made a strategic investment in Northern Data, one of Europe’s major Bitcoin mining firms, in September 2023.

About a year later, news emerged that Northern Data was considering selling its mining unit to fully transition into an AI entity. Tether is working towards turning Northern Data into Europe’s largest independent AI player.
