What to Know

  • Peter Brandt favors another Bitcoin decline, with his head-and-shoulders projection indicating a possible retest of the $58,000 price region again.
  • Bitcoin must reclaim the $67,260 to $68,000 resistance zone to weaken bearish pressure and strengthen its broader technical recovery prospects.
  • Whale selling adds market pressure, with one large holder unloading 7,513 BTC worth approximately $486.9 million across three weeks alone.

Veteran trader Peter Brandt has leaned toward another Bitcoin decline as the cryptocurrency struggles to overcome a major resistance zone. According to Brandt on X, he has not entered a position yet, although his current preference favors another downward move.

“I am not in the bet yet, but if I were to bet it would be for a decline,” Brandt wrote.

Bitcoin currently faces resistance near $67,260, leaving buyers with significant ground to recover before the technical picture becomes more favorable. Moreover, Brandt’s chart presents a large head-and-shoulders formation that places the $58,000 region within reach under a bearish scenario. The formation developed between April and June, when Bitcoin experienced several major swings around the $70,000 and $80,000 price regions.

Brandt’s Head-and-Shoulders Pattern Points Toward $58,000

Bitcoin formed the pattern’s left shoulder during April as the cryptocurrency climbed into the mid-to-upper $70,000 range. Subsequently, BTC advanced toward approximately $82,000 in May, establishing the head and the highest point within Brandt’s technical formation.

Another rebound toward the upper $70,000 range emerged between late May and early June, completing the pattern’s right shoulder. Both shoulders developed around comparable price levels, while Bitcoin’s May peak remained considerably higher than the surrounding recovery attempts.

Brandt placed the pattern’s neckline around $75,000, an important level that eventually failed as sellers gained control during early June. Consequently, Bitcoin dropped from approximately $75,000 to below $60,000, confirming significant weakness beneath the previously established neckline.

Brandt’s projected path extends toward approximately $58,000, indicating BTC could potentially revisit its lower 2026 trading region if sellers remain dominant. However, Bitcoin still has several resistance levels that could weaken this bearish scenario if buyers successfully regain control of the market.

Analyst Ted Pillows identified a close above $65,000 as an important requirement for restoring stronger bullish momentum around Bitcoin. Furthermore, clearing the $67,260 to $68,000 resistance zone could strengthen buyers and reduce the immediate risk of another deeper correction.

Whale Selling Strengthens Bitcoin Downside Concerns

Large Bitcoin holders are also reducing their exposure while the cryptocurrency struggles to establish a convincing recovery above major technical barriers. According to Lookonchain, one whale sold another 1,019 BTC worth approximately $66.4 million during its latest reported transaction.

That holder has sold 7,513 BTC over three weeks, representing approximately $486.9 million based on reported transaction values. Such substantial selling could increase market supply and create additional pressure if demand remains insufficient around Bitcoin’s current trading range. Additionally, repeated whale sales may become more significant if Bitcoin fails to reclaim the resistance levels highlighted by analysts.

Conclusion

Bitcoin remains vulnerable while Brandt favors further downside, with his technical projection placing the $58,000 region within the bearish scenario. Still, reclaiming $65,000 and eventually breaking $67,260 to $68,000 could weaken that setup and improve Bitcoin’s broader technical position.
