Decentralized freelancing platform CryptoTask is coming to Tezos

CryptoTask, a blockchain-based platform for freelancers, is moving over to the Tezos blockchain. According to the CryptoTask team, the pandemic period has seen a spike in demand for freelance marketplaces, which has highlighted the need for scalability and security.

So far, CryptoTask has onboarded more than 35,000 users, and is currently growing at a rate of over 100 sign-ups per day. The platform stands out from most other similar freelancing platforms by featuring job openings from a diverse set of fields, and isn’t just limited to blockchain-related jobs. At the moment, CryptoTask can be used with no fees, and payments between freelancers and companies are conducted through an escrow system to ensure safety.

Tezos is a Proof-of-Stake blockchain that features on-chain governance at the forefront of its design. The blockchain can be upgraded without requiring hard forks, which makes it able to quickly adapt to the rapid technological developments in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector. The latest proposed Tezos upgrade is called Granada, and it contains a faster consensus algorithm, gas cost improvements, and a system for incentivizing liquidity provision called Liquidity Baking.

CryptoTask intends to leverage Tezos to benefit from improved payout settlement, fiat currency on-ramps and peer-to-peer job matching functionality. The team also says that Tezos’ smart contract capabilities will allow them to better support their increasingly complex smart contracts infrastructure. Tezos comes equipped with Michelson, a functional smart contracts programming language.

CryptoTask co-founder and CEO Ivan Nanut commented on how users will benefit from the platform’s migration to Tezos:

“It's a memorable day that we have been waiting for months now. CryptoTask on Tezos will disrupt freelancing as we know it. The platform and our users will hugely benefit from the Tezos blockchain through low gas fees, smarter smart contracts, and low energy consumption. We can't wait for our users to see and feel the change Tezos is bringing to our freelance marketplace.”
