I want to get this out in the open because it is the kind of thing that will generate conspiracy theories: I'm going to give a presentation about Bitcoin at CIA headquarters in June at an emerging technologies conference for the US intelligence community. - Gavin Andresen, Lead Bitcoin Core Developer

In this Bitcointalk post, one of the most famous Bitcoin Core contributors announces that he will be visiting the CIA for a presentation about Bitcoin, which was just over 2 years old at the time. He claims Bitcoin was on the CIA's radar, and he wanted to show Bitcoin in a positive light before the CIA looked at Bitcoin as a threat.
Was he successful? It seems like Satoshi didn't think so.

The OP is also a part of The Bitcoin Foundation. A heads up. He did accept $3,000 for reporting about Bitcoin to the CIA.

So what? Sounds like he got paid to speak about a subject on which he is knowledgable. What's the BFD?

It reeks of corruption to me. Satoshi left when Gavin announced this. Satoshi never wanted the establishment involved. Gavin does it anyways. It all makes me very worried for Bitcoin's protocol development.
Satoshi dumped Bitcoin right after Gavin announced he was going to the CIA.
This is quoted from the defunct Bruce Wagner Bitcoin podcast:
Bruce Wagner : When was the last time you chatted to satoshi <laugh>
Gavin Andresen: Um... I haven't had email from satoshi in a couple months actually. The last email I sent him I actually told him I was going to talk at the CIA. So it's possible , that.... that may have um had something to with his deciding. - Atlas, September 28, 2012, 03:44:27 AM
Satoshi left the Bitcoin contribution team almost right after Gavin went to the CIA. There are three possible scenarios.
So what do you think? Why do you think Satoshi left Bitcoin, and do you think the CIA meeting had anything to do with it?
