There's no better reminder that you are balls deep in crypto than getting a new device and having to get that device crypto-functional

So, I thought I was self aware. I enjoy crypto, think it's cool. I'm invested in it, but I always thought, "I'm not crazy about it." I also thought that it would be relatively easy for my spouse to recover my crypto if something happened to me (as she knows where I store my seed phrases).
Today, I got a new laptop and went to set it up, and my oh my, was there a lot more than I thought. Here's the overview of everything I had to do.

Between all the downloads, finding seeds, and finding contract addresses on Metamask, the process took me about 4 hours to complete, and I know exactly what I was doing. I also only hold 6 tokens (plus free BAT that I convert to BTC). I can't imagine how long the process would take if I had a portfolio of 15+ coins.
We preach about the importance of self-custody, and I agree it's incredibly important. However, currently the average person would not be able to figure out how to recover all the lost coins of a relative. I think within the next 5 years, we will start seeing "crypto basic" courses being taught to high schoolers and at least giving people the fundamental understanding of what needs to be done to recover the loses
