He pushed NASCAR to ban the confederate flag from its events and he also made headlines after discovering what looked like a noose in his teams garage. This was later confirmed to just simply be a door pull rope.  Even the President of the United States, Donald Trump has taken aim at the driver saying that his actions caused the ratings for NASCAR to drop significantly. However, the reality is, is that the ratings on FOX out of 8% since the controversy. It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
