XRP’s Rich List Just Redrew Who Counts As ‘Rich’

A pair of screenshots posted September 3 by X account @uptownsaul is making the rounds in XRP circles for a simple reason: they show who still counts as “rich” on the ledger — and how much that title now costs.

One table is dated January 30, 2024. The other is September 3, 2026. Same percentiles. A very different club. In 32 months, the holder base got bigger. The XRP required to rank in it got smaller.

The 2024 snapshot implied about 5.04 million accounts. By September 2026, the top 10% band pointed to roughly 8.11 million.

That surge is the whole setup. Percentiles are a ranking, not a fortune. When millions of new wallets show up, the line to stay in the top slice usually drops — unless the largest holders keep stacking faster than the crowd arrives.

At the cutoff, they didn’t.

More wallets in every band. A lower coin threshold in every band.

In early 2024, the top 0.01% started with nearly 6 million XRP. By last week’s snapshot, it started near 3.63 million — a drop of about 38%.

The top 0.1% slid from roughly 428,000 XRP to 277,000. The top 1% fell from about 64,000 to 44,500. The top 10% fell from 3,333 to 2,120.

Hold 50,000 XRP through the whole stretch and do nothing. In 2024, that bag missed the top 1%. In 2026, it will make the list easily.

Whales did not have to get poorer for that to happen. The ranking moved because the ledger filled in beneath them.

A jump like this is rarely one story. New retail wallets. Exchange and custody accounts. Funds opening operational addresses. Holders splitting bags. Dust wallets that never get closed.

The XRP Ledger does not sort those out. A 2,120-XRP hobby wallet and a slice of an institution both count as one account.

So the screenshots measure how crowded the ranking got. They do not prove the float left the top.

This is not a buy signal. It is not a sell signal. It is not evidence the network suddenly became “decentralized.”

A cheaper cutoff can mean broader ownership. It can also mean more wallets, the same large holders, and more custodians. Those readings can travel together.

In January 2024, the top 10% began just above 3,300 XRP. By September 2026, it began near 2,100.

The club got bigger. The cover charge, counted in XRP coins, got smaller. The next question is not the badge. It is what those new wallets actually do.
