FTX’s Alameda Prepares Over $75M ETH Sale for Bankruptcy Repayment

FTX’s bankruptcy estate is again moving digital assets as its long-running effort to repay creditors enters another visible stage. Recently, a wallet linked to Alameda Research transferred 27,372 ETH, worth approximately $75.32 million, to market maker Wintermute.

A $75M Repayment Plan

Alameda Research has transferred 27,372 ETH through six intermediary wallets to Wintermute, a major crypto market-making firm. This places approximately $75.32 million in ETH into the liquidation process, with the transaction executed at around $2,752 per token.

Sources suggest this transfer likely indicates preparations for monetization rather than confirming that the estate has already sold all the transferred ETH in the market. Notably, Wintermute has a history of handling large institutional crypto transactions. This makes its involvement consistent with the estate’s need to manage substantial digital asset disposals.

This development matters because FTX still has assets that can be recovered and converted into additional resources to distribute to creditors. Meanwhile, the company repaid nearly $10 billion to its creditors during its fifth major distribution in late July 2026.

FTX Repayments Show Continuing Asset Monetization

FTX has consistently repaid creditors years after the exchange filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November 2022, following its collapse.

Recall that in August 2024, a New York judge approved a $12.7 billion repayment agreement between FTX and its sister company, Alameda Research, as part of a settlement with the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The settlement ended a 20-month lawsuit the CFTC filed against FTX, its former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, and Alameda Research for fraud and misrepresentation.

The FTX estate once transferred nearly $100 million in assets through its wallets and exchanges to cover repayments in May 2024. In September 2025, the firm announced its third payout plan, which aimed to distribute $1.6 billion to eligible creditors.

Additionally, a significant announcement was made in March when the FTX Recovery Trust revealed plans to distribute approximately $2.2 billion to creditors in its fourth payout round. Notably, FTX has executed payouts more consistently in 2026 than in previous years. So far, it has completed over four repayment rounds this year alone.
