In Brief:

  • Crypto trader Dom identifies $1.50 as XRP’s decisive resistance level, with a successful flip potentially opening the path toward $1.80.
  • XRP has remained below the barrier for 230 days, despite repeated attempts that briefly pushed prices toward $1.70 before retreating.
  • Futures open interest reached $3.18 billion, while rising exchange positioning strengthened bullish expectations and increased liquidation risks for leveraged traders.

Crypto trader Dom has identified $1.50 as the decisive level XRP must reclaim before targeting a possible move toward $1.80. According to his analysis, XRP must convert $1.50 from resistance into support to establish a stronger market structure.

XRP tested its three-month and six-month rolling volume-weighted average prices as support. Dom considers acceptance above $1.50 the more important development. XRP has remained beneath that barrier for 230 days.

Its price encountered repeated selling pressure between approximately $1.48 and $1.55. Moreover, the latest recovery tested that supply zone again. XRP briefly climbed beyond it before sellers regained control.

That move created a long upper wick toward $1.70, showing buyers lacked enough strength to defend higher prices. Consequently, XRP returned below $1.50 and kept the resistance structure intact, meaning bulls now require a convincing close above the barrier. A successful retest would indicate former resistance has become support, creating room for additional appreciation.

XRP Derivatives Activity Supports the $1.80 Breakout Case

Dom believes converting $1.50 into support could open the path toward $1.80 or higher, representing approximately 20% upside. Nevertheless, a temporary move above resistance would not confirm the breakout.

Besides the technical resistance, derivatives data shows traders have increased exposure across several cryptocurrency exchanges. According to CoinGlass, XRP futures open interest stood near $3.18 billion, while trading volume reached approximately $3.90 billion within 24 hours.

By comparison, XRP recorded about $717 million in spot volume during the same period, highlighting derivatives’ influence. Additionally, open interest rose 3.15% on Binance, 6.11% on OKX, 5.76% on Gate, and 10.17% on MEXC.

Binance’s XRP long-to-short account ratio reached 2.16, indicating that more accounts favored long positions. Significantly, the exchange’s top-trader account ratio stood higher at 2.59, reflecting bullish expectations among prominent participants.

However, concentrated long exposure creates liquidation risks if XRP fails to clear resistance. Another rejection could pressure leveraged traders into closing positions. XRP’s next move therefore depends firmly on sustained acceptance above $1.50. Securing that level could validate Dom’s $1.80 target.
