Solana Outpaces Hyperliquid as $90 Breakout Strengthens SOL’s Market Structure

Solana has gained a technical advantage over Hyperliquid by breaking above its 200-day moving average near $90. SOL trades around $104.65, representing a substantial recovery from approximately $75 during the second half of August. The cryptocurrency briefly crossed $110, bringing its total advance from the consolidation range to roughly 45%.

However, the rally’s location carries greater importance than the percentage increase. Solana crossed several moving averages that previously restricted its upward movement. Buyers initially pushed SOL above the 50-day moving average at $80.78. They also cleared the 100-day moving average positioned near $82.46.

Moreover, Solana broke through the larger resistance cluster surrounding $90. That region includes two indicators that traders commonly use when assessing market direction.

The 20-day exponential moving average stands near $90.06, while the 200-day moving average sits around $90.18. SOL crossed both indicators with increasing trading volume. Consequently, Solana now trades more than 15% above its long-term moving average. This structure places SOL ahead of Hyperliquid from a comparative technical perspective.

Hyperliquid remains below similar long-term trend resistance. Therefore, it still needs to complete the breakout that Solana has already achieved. SOL’s primary task now involves defending the $90 region during possible market weakness. Holding that level would confirm previous resistance as reliable support.

Overbought Conditions Place $90 Support and $111 Resistance Under Scrutiny

Solana’s technical improvement comes with increased short-term risk because momentum indicators reached elevated levels during the rally. Its daily relative strength index climbed above 80 before easing toward 73.4. Readings above 70 usually reflect strong demand alongside overheated trading conditions.

Hence, buying SOL between $105 and $110 carries greater risk than purchasing near the previous $80 to $90 range. Trading volume has also started returning toward normal levels.

This change suggests that consolidation could replace rapid gains while market participants evaluate the breakout. Nevertheless, the broader technical structure remains constructive above $90.

Immediate resistance sits between $110 and $111, where sellers previously interrupted the advance. A confirmed breakout could expose the $115 to $120 zone. However, another rejection may push SOL toward the psychological support level at $100. Stronger selling pressure could produce a deeper retest near $90.

Such a retest would provide an important measure of buyer conviction. Successful defense would strengthen evidence supporting a broader trend reversal. Conversely, a sustained decline below $90 would weaken the breakout and return SOL beneath its long-term trend indicator. That outcome would reduce Solana’s current technical advantage over Hyperliquid.

Conclusion

Solana holds the stronger structure because it has already cleared long-term resistance. Maintaining $90 could preserve that advantage and support another challenge near $111.
