Summary

  • S.BLOX lists ADA and NIGHT, expanding Cardano’s presence through a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange affiliated with global technology company Sony Group.
  • NIGHT enters Japan’s regulated market for the first time, while users can receive rewards worth 14,000 yen during its launch campaign.
  • Hoskinson highlighted Japan’s strict approval process, while Midnight’s selective disclosure technology supports privacy alongside regulatory and commercial compliance requirements.

Cardano has strengthened its Japanese presence as Sony-affiliated exchange S.BLOX adds ADA and Midnight’s NIGHT token. According to S.BLOX, customers can trade both cryptocurrencies through its regulated service in Japan. The exchange began handling ADA on August 24, giving investors access to Cardano’s native cryptocurrency.

Additionally, S.BLOX introduced a campaign offering users ADA rewards valued at up to 10,000 Japanese yen. Sony Group Corporation owns the exchange through Sony On-Chain Technologies, its blockchain subsidiary.

Sony On-Chain Technologies acquired the platform in August 2023, expanding Sony’s participation within Japan’s regulated cryptocurrency industry. However, ADA represents only one part of Cardano’s expansion into the Japanese market.

S.BLOX also listed NIGHT, the native token supporting Cardano’s privacy-focused Midnight ecosystem. According to the exchange, no domestic cryptocurrency operator previously handled NIGHT.

NIGHT Listing Brings Cardano Privacy Technology Into Japan

Consequently, S.BLOX became Japan’s first regulated cryptocurrency exchange to offer NIGHT trading. The company also launched a campaign offering users NIGHT rewards worth up to 14,000 yen.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson welcomed the development and emphasized NIGHT’s Japanese debut. Hoskinson described the listing as a major milestone because Japan requires extensive regulatory reviews before approving cryptocurrencies.

He referenced ADA’s lengthy approval journey as evidence of the demanding process surrounding token listings. Japan’s financial regulators maintain strict requirements covering investor protection, security, disclosures, and exchange compliance.

Hence, relatively few digital assets secure approval compared with markets operating under less restrictive listing systems. NIGHT’s inclusion carries additional importance because Japanese exchanges have historically provided limited access to privacy-related cryptocurrency infrastructure.

Moreover, Midnight supports selective disclosure, allowing users to protect sensitive information while revealing details required for compliance. Midnight launched its Cardano-based privacy sidechain in March 2026, while NIGHT entered circulation in December 2025.

ADA’s listing improves Cardano’s accessibility among Japanese traders using regulated platforms. Meanwhile, NIGHT gains its first position within Japan’s supervised cryptocurrency market.

The dual listing expands Cardano’s Japanese footprint, combining ADA’s established presence with Midnight’s privacy technology through Sony-linked S.BLOX.
