In Brief:
- Ripple shifted $1.36 million in RLUSD from XRP Ledger to Ethereum through matching burn and mint transactions recorded September 6.
- Ethereum stablecoin markets can expand RLUSD access for exchanges, investors, institutions, decentralized finance platforms, settlement services, lending, and collateral operations.
- Ripple’s supply management preserved total circulation, while the external wallet’s identity and intended purpose remained undisclosed following the cross-chain transfer.
Ripple shifted $1.36 million in RLUSD from the XRP Ledger to Ethereum through coordinated burn and mint transactions. Onchain records show that 1,363,614.85 RLUSD left circulation on the XRP Ledger on September 6. Ripple permanently removed the tokens from circulation through an issuer-controlled account.
Seconds later, Ethereum recorded the creation of exactly 1,363,614.85 RLUSD through a corresponding minting transaction. Ripple transferred those Ethereum-based tokens to an external wallet, completing the cross-chain repositioning.
Matching amounts indicate Ripple shifted liquidity between networks rather than increasing overall RLUSD supply. Although each blockchain recorded a separate transaction, their timing and values suggest that both operations were coordinated.
This method allows Ripple to adjust RLUSD distribution without using a conventional bridge that holds locked assets between networks. Consequently, the burn-and-mint structure can preserve total supply while changing where customers and platforms access the stablecoin.

Ethereum Gains More RLUSD Liquidity Through Coordinated Supply Rebalancing
Moreover, Ethereum’s established stablecoin markets can provide wider access for exchanges, investors, and blockchain-based financial platforms. The additional RLUSD could support demand from services requiring balances for settlement, trading, lending, collateral, or payment operations.
Importantly, the operation did not appear to create $1.36 million in entirely new RLUSD supply. Ripple removed the same quantity from the XRP Ledger before issuing replacement tokens through its Ethereum contract. Hence, the stablecoin’s economic supply likely remained unchanged, assuming Ripple conducted no unrelated minting during the same period.
Transfer Highlights Ripple’s Cross-Chain RLUSD Supply Strategy
Cross-chain supply management becomes increasingly important as RLUSD gains adoption across several blockchain environments. Users require sufficient liquidity to transfer value, settle payments, and interact with supported applications on either network.
The XRP Ledger provides fast settlement and relatively low costs for payments and institutional activity. Meanwhile, Ethereum offers access to decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, custody services, and other financial infrastructure.
Ripple’s transaction demonstrates how stablecoin issuers can adjust network allocations while maintaining consistency across circulating supply. However, the external wallet’s identity and intended purpose remain unclear without further disclosure from Ripple or the recipient. Overall, the transaction repositioned existing RLUSD liquidity toward Ethereum while reducing the equivalent amount available on the XRP Ledger.
