Crypto influencers on X (formerly Twitter) are facing a troubling situation: their followers are stagnating or inexplicably decreasing. This anomaly, affecting major figures in the sector, raises questions about the platform’s moderation practices.

Les influenceurs cryptos sont-ils sabotés par Twitter ?

Potential Shadowban of Crypto Influencers on X

Crypto influencers on Twitter are increasingly concerned about alleged cases of shadow banning, which affect their reach and engagement. PlanB, one of the most-followed analysts, reported sudden fluctuations in his followers. He lost up to 2000 followers overnight. Raoul Pal, another renowned influencer, noted a stagnation in his followers at 1,045,000 for several months. Crypto Rand, in turn, has seen his account stuck at around 300,000 followers for over a year, despite regular activity and quality content.

Other influencers, such as Randi Hipper, also express their frustration with a nearly nonexistent growth in their followers. This sudden and unexplained stagnation raises questions about X’s moderation practices. While social media moderation algorithms are often complex, these cases highlight legitimate concerns regarding the transparency and fairness of these systems. Influencers are actively seeking answers to understand these anomalies and hope that X will take steps to clarify the situation and restore their organic reach.

A Broader Market Trend?

Bitcoin Archive, a crypto influencer followed by over 1.4 million people on X, proposes an alternative theory regarding the stagnation of crypto influencers’ followers. According to him, the stabilization in follower numbers is mainly due to limited growth in the crypto market. He suggests that already significant accounts, like his own, are affected by saturation of their potential audience. He observes this trend not only on X but also on other platforms like YouTube.

For Bitcoin Archive, retail interest in bitcoin and cryptos in general is currently low. The majority of those interested in these topics are likely already following the main influencers, which explains the lack of follower growth. He points out that this situation reflects stagnant interest in cryptos among the general public, making it difficult to increase the audience for established influencers.

Allegations of shadow banning on X raise important questions about the transparency of algorithms. Whether it’s a matter of moderation or market dynamics, crypto influencers are seeking answers. Only clarification from X can restore trust and allow for a better understanding of the situation.
