Ethereum Stakers Are Sending a Powerful Signal

There is 13.6X more ETH waiting to be staked than there is waiting to exit. That’s the clearest signal Ethereum’s validator queues have sent all year.
The Numbers Behind the Signal
ValidatorQueue’s live tracker shows the full picture. About 2.48 million ETH is waiting to enter staking. New validators face a wait of 43 to 45 days.

The exit queue tells a different story. It fell to zero ETH at one point in July. Total staked ETH now sits near 41 million.
That’s roughly 33.5% to 34% of the entire supply. Close to 900,000 validators now secure the network.
A Pattern That’s Been Building for Months
This isn’t a sudden shift. Ethereum’s validator queue flipped in a similar way late last year, with entries far outpacing exits.
That earlier turning point set the stage for the lopsided ratio showing up now. The direction hasn’t changed. It’s only gotten more extreme.
Institutions Are Adding to the Queue
Large staking operators are a real part of this story. BitMine has been contributing meaningfully to entry demand.
That points to institutional-scale accumulation, not just retail holders locking up tokens.
Whale accumulation across Ethereum went parabolic earlier this year, and this queue data fits that same pattern of large holders committing ETH for the long term.
Price Sits Well Above Its Recent Low
ETH traded at $2,585.76 as of 13:02 UTC on September 20, 2026, up 3.8% over seven days, per CoinGecko.
The chart shows a sharp climb from below $2,400 on September 17 to above $2,600 by September 19. Price has pulled back slightly since, sitting near $2,590.

That recovery lines up with the staking data, even as the two metrics move on different timelines.
What This Queue Imbalance Means
A 13.6x entry-to-exit ratio shows most holders want to lock up ETH, not sell it. That reduces the amount of liquid supply available on exchanges.
With entries still outpacing exits by such a wide margin, Ethereum’s available float looks set to keep shrinking in the weeks ahead.
