XRP Breaks a Seven-Month Barrier as Whale Activity Hits a Fresh High

XRP just cleared a level it hasn’t touched since February. Price pushed above $1.60 for the first time since February 4. The breakout didn’t happen quietly. Whale activity spiked right alongside it.

The Whale Numbers Behind the Breakout

Santiment’s insight post covers the full move. The network recorded 1,917 transactions worth over $100,000. That’s the strongest high-value activity in roughly a month.

Whale transactions alone don’t prove accumulation. But they show major holders repositioning right as price moves. Network growth spiked too.

The XRP Ledger added 3,647 new wallets during the surge. That gives this rally fresh participation, not just existing traders cycling the same coins.

Institutions Keep Circling XRP

Big money has been building a position here for a while. Goldman Sachs disclosed roughly $153 million in combined XRP ETF exposure across four products earlier this year, spread across 21Shares, Bitwise, Franklin, and Grayscale funds.

That kind of institutional footprint tends to build quietly in the background, right up until a breakout like this one puts it back in the spotlight.

The Ecosystem Backdrop Keeps Strengthening

XRP’s price isn’t moving in isolation. XRPL’s tokenized-asset and RLUSD balances recently reached roughly $4.26 billion. Ripple reports about $2.4 billion of RLUSD now circulating.

That adds real stablecoin and institutional settlement activity to the network, on top of the whale and wallet numbers.

What the Weekly Chart Is Signaling

A TradingView weekly chart created on September 23, 2026, at 13:05 UTC shows XRP/USD at $1.5589, down 0.87% on the week.

Price just broke above a level that capped it for months, with the chart’s recent low sitting near $0.9873.

RSI sits at 57.39, above its 41.69 moving average, a clear momentum shift after a long stretch of sideways action.

Some analysts have flagged this move as the completion of an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern, with $1.60 marking the neckline.

A confirmed break above that level opens the door toward $2, according to that read. Losing $1.40 again would put the breakout in question.

The Setup That’s Building Toward a Bigger Test

XRP already traded near $1.64 earlier this year on strong ETF vault demand, with one analyst noting nearly 755 million XRP parked backing those vaults, almost 1% of total supply.

That same institutional backdrop is still in place now, just with fresh whale activity and wallet growth stacked on top of it.

Whether $1.60 turns into real support or just another failed ceiling should become clear the next time price comes back to test it.
