Key Insights:

  • DeFi Dev Corp backs two Solana crypto upgrade proposals aimed at reducing SOL supply and increasing token burns.
  • One market analyst says SOL price could return to $250 based on past market performance.
  • Wallets holding at least 0.1 SOL have fallen 5%, pointing to slower participation among smaller holders.

SOL price is drawing fresh attention after DeFi Dev Corp backed two major Solana crypto upgrade proposals. The changes aim to cut new SOL supply and increase token burns. While one analyst believes the coin can return to $250, new data also shows fewer wallets now hold at least 0.1 SOL.

However, technical and on-chain indicators can provide insights into market trends but cannot accurately predict future price action. The information shared here is not financial advice, and investors are encouraged to seek professional guidance before trading.

DeFi Dev Corp Supports Solana Crypto Upgrades

DeFi Dev Corp has announced that it will vote in support of two important Solana upgrade proposals known as SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553. The company said both proposals could improve how the Solana network works by reducing the number of new SOL tokens entering the market and increasing the amount of SOL that is burned.

The first proposal, SIMD-0550, focuses on the network’s inflation rate. It would speed up Solana crypto’s move to its planned 1.5% terminal inflation rate. Based on the figures shared by the company, this could reduce the amount of new SOL created by about 18.9 million tokens over the next six years.

According to DeFi Dev Corp, fewer new tokens entering circulation could help reduce selling pressure over time. The company believes this could give the network a healthier supply model if activity on Solana continues to grow.

The second proposal, SIMD-0553, deals with transaction fees. Instead of using a flat fee system, it introduces resource-based fees. Those fees will be burned, meaning more SOL will be removed from circulation as people use the network.

At current network activity, the proposal estimates that daily burns could rise from about 648 SOL to between 7,500 and 9,000 SOL. That would create a much stronger link between network usage and the amount of SOL taken out of supply.

DeFi Dev Corp said the two proposals work well together because one reduces the amount of new SOL being created while the other increases the amount being burned. The company added that Solana’s economic model should continue to change as more users join the network and transaction numbers increase.

It also said that, as the first publicly listed company in the United States built around buying and holding SOL, taking part in governance is part of its duty to both shareholders and the Solana community.

Can SOL Price Climb Back To $250?

The latest proposals have also brought fresh discussion about SOL price. Crypto commentator Borovik, with 226K followers on X, said Solana looks undervalued at around $73. He pointed to the token’s previous price moves, noting that SOL traded near $300 in early 2025 before dropping to around $100. It later recovered to about $250.

Because of that history, Borovik believes Solana crypto can return to those levels again. He said he remains very bullish on the coin and expects it to reach new all-time highs in the future.

His view is based on past price performance and his confidence in the network. It is only an opinion and not a guarantee that SOL will return to $250.

For now, traders are watching to see whether the proposed changes receive support and whether they can improve the long-term outlook for Solana crypto. If network activity keeps growing while fewer new tokens enter circulation, some investors believe it could support SOL price over time.

Solana (SOL) Wallet Numbers Slip 5%

While the upgrade proposals have received attention, another network metric has moved in the opposite direction. Market analyst Ali Martinez said the number of wallets holding at least 0.1 SOL has fallen by 5% in the past two weeks.

The total dropped from 11.84 million wallets to 11.26 million wallets during that period. The figures suggest that participation among smaller holders has slowed.

The decline does not change the fact that developers are still working on the network. It also does not remove interest in Solana crypto, which remains one of the biggest blockchain projects in the market.

For investors, there are now two stories to follow. The first is the proposed upgrades that could reduce supply and increase token burns. The second is the drop in smaller wallet holders. Both may play a part in where SOL price goes next.
