Cortina makes it easier for exchanges that support Avalanche’s X-Chain, the protocol it uses to send and receive funds. According to Avalanche, the upgrade will also allow for faster development, among other benefits.

Before successfully upgrading Cortina on the Fuji testnet, Avalanche mainnet activation time will be announced, and the official Cortina AvalancheGo version (v1.10.0) will be released.

The Cortina upgrade includes protocol optimizations incompatible with AvalancheGo v1.10.0 versions. If you run a node on Fuji, you must upgrade your software to AvalancheGo v1.10.0 before activation on Fuji. If you are a Mainnet node operator, you only need to take action once the official AvalancheGo@v1.10.0 code is published.

The latest version of AvalancheGo will migrate the X-Chain to run the Snowman++ consensus engine, meaning the entire network has been migrated to a single consensus engine, reducing the size of the trusted computing base and leveraging existing R&D efforts.

The integration of Avalanche Warp Messaging (AWM) on X-Chain will make it easier for exchanges to support X-Chain, including more committed tokens to be used on the subnet. The Cortina upgrade also introduces mass authorization rewards and increases the C-Chain gas limit to 1500 gas.

Yesterday, the Evergreen Subnet implemented a new institution introduced by Ava Labs, a layer 1 blockchain technology developer, to strengthen the blockchain ecosystem.

AVAX token recorded a 1.65% gain in the past 24h, currently, the token is trading at $18.09.
