OpenAI is in focus at writing after Cathie Wood announced to have taken a stake in the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT.
How much did Cathie Wood invest in OpenAI?
She made the investment via her Ark Venture Fund – but exactly how much has she invested in OpenAI remains unknown.
Wood launched that fund more than a year ago to enable investors to participate in the venture capital market with just $500. Ark said in an email on Friday:
OpenAI is at the forefront of a Cambrian explosion in AI capability, having produced several of the most influential breakthroughs in foundational AI research.
It is worth mentioning here that no other application ever has been as quick in hitting 100 million active users as ChatGPT.
Cathie Wood is a notable AI bull
Cathie Wood secured a position in OpenAI because of the data advantage that she says is the “secret sauce”. Other notable names that Ark Venture Fund has invested in include Epic Games, Discord, and SpaceX.
The influential investor is a prominent AI bull. Artificial intelligence, she’s convinced, is a catalyst for “disruptive innovation” at large. That’s what she primarily invests in.
Last year, Wood called Tesla Inc “the biggest AI opportunity in the world” considering it’s committed to putting robotaxis on the roads in the United States.
