What to Know

  • Bitcoin wallets holding 10–10,000 BTC added 41,025 BTC across ten days, pushing their combined holdings to a reported six-week high.
  • Small Bitcoin addresses remained mostly flat, while Santiment identified retail selling alongside whale accumulation as a stronger potential bullish signal.
  • Rising wallet balances do not guarantee Bitcoin gains, as transfers and address category changes can also affect reported holdings totals.

Bitcoin wallets holding 10–10,000 BTC added 41,025 BTC in ten days, lifting their combined holdings to a six-week high. According to Santiment’s post on X, these wallets now hold approximately 13.64 million BTC, equivalent to 67.93% of circulating supply. Their accumulation contrasts with mostly unchanged balances among addresses holding less than 0.01 BTC, highlighting different behavior across the groups.

Santiment identifies the larger group as Bitcoin’s whale and shark tier, which it tracks for changes in ownership patterns. Its combined holdings have recovered to levels associated with the mid-August rally, following declines during parts of August and September.

The accompanying chart places this recovery within a timeline stretching from late March through late September, alongside Bitcoin’s price movements. Near the chart’s right edge, larger-wallet holdings turn upward while the smallest addresses show comparatively little movement.

Consequently, the six-week milestone reflects a recovery in larger-holder balances rather than a corresponding record in Bitcoin’s market price. Both the chart and the post emphasize the ownership divergence, which Santiment views as an encouraging market signal.

The reported increase averages 4,102.5 BTC per day, although this calculation does not establish an equal increase each day. Additionally, the accumulated amount represents approximately 0.30% growth against the group’s estimated holdings before the ten-day period.

Flat Retail Balances Leave Santiment’s Stronger Bullish Setup Incomplete

Santiment’s interpretation rests on historical patterns linking larger-holder accumulation with better performance for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market. Conversely, the platform associates reductions in this group’s holdings with increased market pressure, making the direction of balances relevant.

However, Santiment considers a different combination more encouraging than the current pattern of larger-holder accumulation and flat micro balances. That combination would involve larger wallets adding Bitcoin while the smallest addresses reduce their holdings, indicating contrasting levels of exposure.

The platform connects this scenario with historical instances when small traders exited near buying opportunities that preceded stronger Bitcoin moves. Nevertheless, the supplied chart shows micro balances remaining mostly steady, so this additional condition has not clearly appeared.

Moreover, the smallest-address category represents wallets containing less than 0.01 BTC rather than every participant in the retail market. Stable combined holdings can also conceal individual purchases and sales that offset one another within the same address group.

Similarly, increases among larger addresses measure changes in balances without independently confirming that every additional coin represents an exchange purchase. Transfers and movements across holding thresholds can affect totals, limiting what the figures reveal about individual investors and their motives.

Bitcoin’s larger-holder balances have recovered, but Santiment presents the divergence as an encouraging signal rather than a guaranteed price forecast. Further accumulation alongside declining micro balances would more closely match the stronger historical pattern described in its analysis.
