So far this year, the Ordinals protocol for inscribing digital assets on Bitcoin has taken off in a huge manner.

Although the firm currently has the infrastructure in place for creators to list and sell Ordinals, the launchpad will assist in onboarding creators to the ecosystem, making it easier to create tokens on the Bitcoin network.

The method of inscribing an Ordinal NFT differs greatly from that of minting a digital asset on Ethereum, posing a barrier to entry for those developers unfamiliar with Taproot and inscriptions.

Over Q1 2023, Bitcoin inscriptions saw a significant increase in popularity, and as technology continues to catch up with demand, Magic Eden is stepping in to provide a platform for artists to effortlessly publish their collections. The Launchpad will bring together a network of Ordinals fans from various native chains, fostering the creation of a burgeoning Ordinals society.

Magic Deadjira, a derivative from the Ethereum NFT project Godjira, is Eden’s first Bitcoin launchpad project, with a sequence of 107 pixelated lizard-themed profile photographs (PFPs) inscribed in February. Throughout the next week, the launchpad will see a couple more Ordinal drops.

Magic Eden’s COO and co-founder, Zhuoxun Yin, stated:

“We’re excited to expand our creator capabilities to Bitcoin and offer easy ways for creators to get started and launch. Bitcoin is the grandfather of all blockchains, and we believe it can be the home to pure digital artifacts. With Ordinals, content can be preserved forever, and we’re proud to be helping creators and the Ordinals community grow together.”

Initially, the launchpad will allow producers to sell Bitcoin Ordinals that have already been inscribed to the blockchain, or Magic Eden may assist with the inscription process if needed.

Magic Eden launched a Bitcoin NFT marketplace last month, enabling collectors to buy Ordinals on the secondary market and incorporating support for two Bitcoin wallets.
