Meta-Fans-Can-Fly-to-Qatar-To-Experience-World-Cup
  • Qatar’s FIFA World Cup 2022 can be experienced by fans via Upland’s metaverse.
  • Soccer fans can win a virtual replica of Doha’s Lusail Stadium as a prize through a raffle.
  • Metaverse FIFA fans trade digital sports gear and earn points for rare items like video clips of goals.

Upland announced in a statement released on its website that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is entering the metaverse. The space will enable FIFA fans to collect and own Official FIFA World Cup merchandise, videos, and highlights from the games, and even virtually fly to the event.

The soccer organization has embraced the latest technology by entering the world’s most anticipated FIFA World Cup in the virtual cosmos. The FIFA World Cup will be displayed in Upland’s digitally designed replica of Doha’s Lusail Stadium in the metaverse, and it will be raffled off to one lucky soccer fan as a grand prize.

The metaverse fans can go to a virtual airport, visit a digital version of the stadium, and enter nearby shops. Fans can also buy digital merchandise like scarves and flags and they can use them in their virtual houses to display team spirit.

Along with Upland, Roblox has also created a technicolor universe in which fans can play a game that combines both soccer and bowling.

Dirk Lueth, Upland’s co-founder and co-CEO stated that the younger generation is moving away from social media and investing time to play games in the 3D environment. According to Lueth companies and organizations like FIFA have realized that “to attract those audiences, they also have to be in the similar space.”

Upland’s metaverse simulations of the FIFA World Cup feel life-like. It takes money and time to travel across the meta world but the amount is only about $5 for each flight, and it takes less time.

Furthermore, according to Upland’s Head of Marketing Lindsay Aamodt:
A regular fan isn’t going to buy a ticket to the game, but they can have a cool representative experience in the metaverse.

For the World Cup, fans in the metaverse can buy and trade digital sports gear and earn points, which can be used to win or obtain rare items such as video clips of goals and other significant game events.
