Could $35M Multicoin Selling & FOMC News Send Hyperliquid Below $70?

Hyperliquid price prediction is worth a close look right now because HYPE is trading inside a descending channel at the exact moment a large holder just moved a meaningful amount of tokens toward an exchange.

That combination, a technical squeeze plus a fresh supply signal, tends to produce sharper moves than either factor would on its own.

Whether HYPE breaks out of this channel or gets dragged lower by the extra selling pressure is exactly what this piece works through, so keep reading for the full picture.

Quick note on positioning: this piece reflects no personal position in HYPE; it is purely a read of the chart and available data, not a trade recommendation.

HYPE Price Today: Live Data and 24-Hour Change

Hyperliquid is trading around $77.104 right now, down close to 2.88% on the day, a drop of about $2.2864.

That pullback fits with a coin still stuck inside a descending channel rather than one showing any real sign of breaking free yet.

Market cap sits near $19.43 billion, open interest is holding at a sizable $2.81 billion, and derivatives activity is clearly dominant here, with 24-hour futures volume at $2.80 billion against just $175.86 million in spot volume. Circulating supply stands at 251.62 million HYPE, out of a total and max supply of 951.69 million tokens.

Hyperliquid News Today: Multicoin Capital Sends $35M HYPE to Coinbase

There is a notable piece of Hyperliquid news feeding into this HYPE forecast right now. Hyperliquid news today fomc news

According to a post from Onchain Lens, Multicoin Capital sent 441K sHYPE, worth roughly $35.31 million, from four separate wallets to Coinbase Prime within the past six hours, a move the post flags as likely intended for selling.

Large transfers like this from a known fund straight to an exchange deposit address are typically read as a precursor to distribution rather than a routine custody shuffle.

For anyone doing Hyperliquid trend analysis right now, this kind of transfer adds a genuinely bearish data point on top of a chart that is already sitting inside a downward-sloping channel.

It does not confirm a sale has actually happened yet; tokens moving to an exchange do not have to be sold immediately, but it is exactly the kind of signal that tends to weigh on sentiment in HYPE price outlook discussions until the tokens either get sold or move back off the exchange.

Quick Take

  • CMP: $77.158 on the 4-hour Binance perpetual chart

  • Trigger level: close above $82.488 to confirm a breakout of the descending channel

  • Failure level: close below $75.152; deeper support sits at $70.581

  • Data as of: September 16, 2026, 12:07 UTC+5:30

  • Risk note: a fresh $35M transfer to Coinbase adds real overhead supply risk on top of the technical setup, so any bounce toward resistance deserves extra caution until confirmed with a close

HYPE Technical Forecast: Reading the Descending Channel

Chart source: TradingView, HYPE/USDT Perpetual Contract, 4-hour timeframe, Binance, September 16, 2026, 12:07 UTC+5:30.Hyperliquid fomc outlook

Zooming into the 4-hour HYPE/USDT chart on Binance, the price is currently trading inside a descending channel that has been in control since the pullback from HYPE's recent highs.

Lower highs and lower lows have been forming consistently along both boundaries, and price is currently sitting in the lower half of that range, which lines up with the Multicoin transfer adding fresh sell-side pressure right around the same time.

If HYPE manages to close above $82.488, that would represent a clean breakout of the channel's upper boundary, roughly 6.9% above the current price.

Clearing that opens the path toward $89.720, about 16.3% higher than CMP, and in a stronger continuation, the psychological $100 level comes into view, sitting around 29.6% above where HYPE trades today.

A move through $100 would mark a meaningful shift in this Hyperliquid price prediction from range-bound to trending.

On the other side, if HYPE fails to hold and closes below $75.152, roughly 2.6% under current price, that would suggest sellers, potentially including the Multicoin tokens now sitting on Coinbase, are taking control of the channel's direction. In that case, the next support to watch sits at $70.581, about 8.5% below CMP.

Bull, Base, and Bear Scenarios for Hyperliquid

If buyers absorb the Multicoin supply and push $HYPE through the upper boundary of this channel with a confirmed close above $82.488, that opens a legitimate path toward $89.720 and, with continued momentum, the $100 mark. This would be the strongest signal yet that the recent downtrend has run its course.

A more measured outcome has $HYPE continuing to chop inside this descending channel for a while, with the market waiting to see whether the Multicoin tokens on Coinbase actually get sold or simply sit there.

Given the added uncertainty from that transfer, extended consolidation here would not be surprising.

Things turn bearish if price closes below $75.152, and more decisively so if $70.581 gives way too.

That combination would suggest the Multicoin transfer did in fact translate into real selling pressure, putting this Hyperliquid price forecast on a weaker footing heading into the following days.

Risks to This Hyperliquid Price Prediction

No HYPE price target is guaranteed, and a few things could easily throw this off.

Broader crypto sentiment, particularly sudden moves in Bitcoin or shifts in macro risk appetite, can override coin-specific setups regardless of how the channel looks on the chart.

The Multicoin transfer is a real, confirmed on-chain event, but whether those tokens actually get sold, held, or moved elsewhere is not yet known, and treating a transfer as a guaranteed sale would be jumping ahead of the data.

Liquidity inside a tight channel like this can also produce fakeouts in either direction before a genuine breakout confirms.

Glossary

Descending channel: a price structure formed by two parallel downward-sloping trendlines, connecting a series of lower highs and lower lows.

Channel breakout: a move where price closes beyond one of the channel's boundaries, potentially signaling a shift away from the prior range-bound trend.

Exchange deposit: tokens moved from a private wallet to an exchange address, often interpreted as a precursor to selling since exchanges are where trading happens.

Open interest: the total number of outstanding derivative contracts on an asset that have not yet been settled or closed.
