Louisville Athletics announced a multi-year partnership with Ripple on September 15, bringing XRP branding to the Cardinals’ basketball programs beginning this season. Under the deal, detailed in the university’s official announcement, the XRP logo becomes a permanent fixture on Denny Crum Court while Ripple also funds financial and technology education for student-athletes. Ripple describes XRP as an asset designed to move money around the world in seconds at a fraction of the cost of traditional banking, developed for fast and low-cost global payments.

XRP Branding Comes to Denny Crum Court

The XRP logo will appear on the playing surface for every Louisville home game, while Coach Denny Crum’s iconic insignia remains a permanent fixture inside the three-point arc. Beyond the court, XRP branding will extend to TV-visible courtside signage and in-venue promotions throughout the KFC Yum! Center, as well as the program’s digital and social channels and men’s and women’s basketball radio broadcasts. Louisville did not disclose financial terms of the agreement, which was facilitated by the Cardinals’ multimedia rights partner, Learfield, a media and technology company that works with more than 1,200 collegiate institutions.

Education and Adoption at the Center of the Deal

The partnership carries an educational component, with Ripple supporting financial and technology instruction for student-athletes and the broader campus community across both traditional finance and digital assets. Athletics director Josh Heird said Ripple “was very intentional about aligning with premier basketball brands,” adding that the deal “speaks to the strength of our basketball tradition, the national reach of the Louisville brand and the passion of our fan base.” Learfield’s president of sports properties, Kim Damron, said the agreement will “expand XRP’s presence in the college sports landscape.”

Ripple’s Expanding College Sports Footprint

The Louisville agreement is the latest in a series of collegiate sponsorships from the XRP developer, which previously put its logo on the field through a deal with Florida Athletics. The push reflects XRP’s broader move into mainstream finance and consumer adoption, a trend BlockchainReporter has tracked as XRP expands deeper into traditional finance. Ripple, founded in 2012, provides payments, custody, prime brokerage and treasury management solutions, holding more than 85 licenses as a single entry point for enterprises bridging traditional and digital finance on the XRP Ledger.
