Summary
- An early Ethereum ICO whale transferred 3,510.42 MKR worth $4.41 million, ending roughly seven years of inactivity without confirmed selling.
- Blockchain records show the MKR moved between private addresses, leaving custody restructuring and portfolio management among possible reasons for the movement.
- Ethereum trades near $1,913, with resistance between $1,920 and $2,000, while $1,875 and $1,800 remain important support levels for ETH.
An early Ethereum ICO participant has moved 3,510.42 MKR worth approximately $4.41 million, ending seven years of inactivity. The investor ranks among Ethereum’s earliest identifiable holders and initially accumulated 40,000 ETH during the network’s 2015 ICO period.
According to on-chain records, the latest wallet activity involves Maker rather than Ethereum, with the investor accumulating 7,020.84 MKR between 2018 and 2019. The purchases carried an average acquisition price of approximately $828.92, placing the original cost of the entire position near $5.81 million.
The whale transferred half of those holdings into another address, bringing a previously dormant position back into active circulation. At the reported market price, the transferred 3,510.42 MKR carries approximately $1.51 million in unrealized profit.
Significantly, blockchain records do not indicate that the tokens reached a cryptocurrency exchange. Instead, they moved between private addresses. That distinction matters because exchange deposits can indicate potential selling, while private transfers can serve several different purposes.

Whale’s Next MKR Move Could Reveal Intentions
Large cryptocurrency holders sometimes transfer assets between wallets for custody changes, security management, or broader portfolio restructuring. Consequently, the latest transaction does not provide evidence that the Ethereum ICO whale has started selling its long-held Maker position.
Nevertheless, seven years of inactivity makes the movement notable, particularly because another transfer could offer stronger clues about the investor’s strategy. An eventual deposit into an exchange could increase expectations of profit-taking. Another private transfer would provide considerably less evidence of selling pressure.
Ethereum Faces Key Resistance Near $2,000
Meanwhile, Ethereum trades around $1,913 as buyers attempt to strengthen its recovery from the $1,550 region recorded during previous declines. ETH remains above shorter moving averages around $1,874 and $1,802. However, resistance near $1,923 presents an important technical hurdle.
Additionally, Ethereum’s daily Relative Strength Index stands near 56, keeping momentum above neutral territory without reaching overbought conditions. The $1,920 to $2,000 region remains an important resistance zone that could determine whether Ethereum extends its broader recovery.

A confirmed move beyond $2,000 could bring the longer-term moving average near $2,145 into view as another technical barrier. Conversely, rejection around current resistance could expose support levels around $1,875 and $1,800 if selling pressure strengthens.
For now, the whale’s $4.41 million MKR transfer confirms renewed activity but provides no direct evidence of liquidation. The destination of any subsequent MKR movement could clarify whether the investor is restructuring assets or preparing to realize long-held profits.
