  • Cardano expands Lace wallet functionality before major network hard fork deployment begins.
  • Lace wallet now combines Bitcoin, Midnight, and Cardano assets seamlessly together.
  • Cardano developers intensify infrastructure testing ahead of Protocol Version 11 rollout.

Cardano accelerated preparations for its upcoming network upgrade after rolling out major improvements to the Lace wallet ecosystem. The updates arrive as developers continue advancing infrastructure tied to the upcoming Van Rossem hard fork expected later in June 2026. According to the Lace team, the latest releases focused heavily on improving wallet stability, DApp connectivity, and multi-chain asset management. The updated Lace 2.0 extension now allows users to manage Cardano, Bitcoin, and Midnight assets from one interface without switching between multiple wallets.

The newest Lace 2.0.3 release resolved a serious issue that caused some users to encounter a white screen during wallet migration or DApp connection attempts. Additionally, developers fixed a compatibility problem affecting legacy wallets originally imported from Nami. Moreover, the release improved DApp connector visibility while adding faster loading indicators throughout the wallet interface. Consequently, users now experience smoother navigation and better interaction with decentralized applications.

Another important update arrived through Lace version 2.0.4. Developers introduced a default viewing mode that automatically switches between Side Panel and Tab layouts whenever needed. Besides improving accessibility, the release added an auto-lock timer inside Wallet Settings to reduce repeated password requests. The update also corrected missing Spanish and Japanese translations affecting several wallet labels. As a result, international users now receive a more consistent experience across the platform.

Cardano Continues Hard Fork Preparations

While Lace receives front-end improvements, Cardano developers continue preparing the blockchain for the upcoming Protocol Version 11 upgrade. Unlike previous transitions, the Van Rossem hard fork avoids a full era change to reduce integration pressure across the ecosystem. The upgrade introduces stronger node security, improved ledger consistency, and enhanced Plutus performance. Additionally, developers included updated reference input rules and VRF key uniqueness improvements.

Preparation efforts intensified after Cardano Node version 11.0.1 entered Pre-Release testing recently. According to development updates, this node version remains necessary for safely crossing into the upgraded protocol environment. At the same time, Cardano’s consensus team continued advancing the Leios prototype under Treasury Funding Initiative 4 while reliability teams launched an operational Leios testnet.
