Ethereum Whale Drops $10.1 Million — Is Something Big Coming?

A large wallet just added $10.1 million worth of ETH in a single day. Crypto watcher Ted flagged the move as accumulation, and the transaction lines up with a broader pattern that’s been building all week.
What The Wallet Actually Did
Ted posted on August 17 that a whale bought $10.1 million in ETH. The tracked wallet, ending in 8447, pulled 5,300 ETH from a Kraken hot wallet and moved it in.
Blockchain records also show the same address making several 32 ETH deposits over the past 47 days, each one funneled straight to a Beacon Deposit Contract. That pattern points to staking, not short-term trading.

This Wallet Isn’t Acting Alone
Other large holders have been making similar moves throughout August. A separate whale wallet, 0x2d59, bought 40,000 ETH worth $76.66 million, then added another 50,000 ETH worth $93.6 million just a week later, staking the entire position both times, Blockonomi reported.
That single wallet has now accumulated roughly $170 million in ETH over a few weeks.
Ted separately flagged a smaller whale purchase of $3.93 million on August 14, pushing that wallet’s holdings to about $53.13 million.
A Pattern Bigger Than One Wallet
This accumulation trend shows up at the corporate level too. Bitmine Immersion Technologies added 65,341 ETH in a single week back in March, pushing its total holdings past 4.66 million tokens and roughly 3.86% of Ethereum’s entire supply at the time.
That steady institutional buying pattern has continued since, with the same firm’s total staked ETH climbing toward 5.81 million tokens as of mid-August, generating hundreds of millions in annualized staking revenue.
Whale Conviction Even During Weak Stretches
This isn’t the first time whale buying has continued through a weak stretch for price either.
Techgaged reported back in January that a wallet labeled 0xFB7 kept buying tens of thousands of ETH through private trading desks even as the broader market pulled back, purchasing 20,013 ETH in one move alone.
Whale conviction during price weakness has been a recurring signal on ETH charts this year, not a one-off.
Does The Price Chart Agree?
Ethereum trades at $1,892.13, up 2.6% over the past 30 days as of the latest CoinGecko reading.

Price climbed sharply in late July toward a local peak near $1,950, pulled back through most of early August, and has stabilized just under $1,900 over the past several days.
Does this latest whale buy mark the start of a bigger accumulation wave, or is it simply one wallet adding to a pattern that’s been building for weeks already?
